I know what you mean, teh_az. If you are familiar with the story of Wayneville in world 2 you might know that we had the best of everthing relatively quick due to a bug exploit. Highest quality goods, ressources, armors and weapons. We also ha dedicated players who made it possible that we had gold and silver plus the best smith in the hearthlands. Also extreme grinders with lp over 20 million. Those might all be goals you could try to achieve, but once you have that (not necessarily be number 1 but at least have everything possible in the game) there is nothing left to do, or is there?
Our solution to this on map 2 was to escape the boredom by using our powers for evil. We killed, plundered and destroyed every settlement that seemed to be worth it and it was fun. Factions formed against us, we fought them and although the still flawed combat and retaliation system allow no real wars, the conflicts and the drama were one of the most exiting things I got out of the game. More than keeping a couple of cows and harvesting my crops could have ever provided.
I am not saying you have to choose the path of being an evil overlord to have fun again at the endgame, I am saying that for me politics and the interaction between larger groups of players created a game within the game. This world we started with most of our former enemies on our side, dedicated players with the goal in mind to create the bigest and wealthiest town in the hearthlands without hurting others. So far we are doing qute well and we even added another goal to the list: reviving trade in this world by building another town solely dedicated to this purpose.
To sum it up I think you just have to be creative and find a goal for yourself, also focus on that thing and don't meander through the endless possibilities a sandbox game like haven&hearth gives you without ever takin action.
