Can anyone do me a small favor?

Can you take a picture of your palisade gate and post it to this thread? Doing so will help me determine

1. If Palisade Gates are very strict (ie. you can only place it on one specific pixel), or very lenient on their placement (ie. you can place it a relatively long distance and the gate will still form).

2. Whether the calculated translation of (66,33) in pixels is correct (based off of one picture of Jorb's Palisade).

In turn, this will help me determine where I should place my Palisade Cornerpost for a new gate. Thank you in advance.

Edit: Using precalculated values, I managed to come within 2 horizontal pixels and 1 vertical pixel of making a perfect gate. Is this sufficient to create a gate, or must I be dead on?

Wha? If you want to make a gate there must be a gap of 2 squares between the 2 cornerposts. You can see how big a square is by selecting build palisade and using the build base to count the gap.
So:

--------0880-----------------

---=wall
0=cornerpost
8=a square space. Then right click one of those cornerposts and build gate will appear.

Yes, but I built my posts using shift+click, which takes them off of the grid (due to a frustrating glitch that forced me to do so, as I could not build on a ledge), so in order to line them up properly, I must calculate the translation necessary for a new gate. This will be equal to two squares in the end, but it has so far been exceedingly aggravating placing the posts perfectly because shift+click still moves them by a few pixels each, skipping over the perfect pixel. What I really wish to know is if close enough is good enough; if the game will allow me to place a gate even though my posts are a few pixels off from their ideal position.

Bump because I would like at least one or two pictures if possible to base my conclusion off of. Please help by posting a picture :D

I doubt they'd be any help because everyone and his mother places walls aligned to grid. If I were you I'd use fences to conduct experiments. If a specific arrangement works for fence, it should work for palisade.

Well, what I'm speculating is that if I move my palisade off the grid by a translation of, say, a pixels right and b pixels down, then I should move my finishing palisade off by the same translation. This distance would ultimately be the same as if I had just placed two cornerposts on the grid, two squares apart. However, if the game estimated where to place a gate, and I didn't have to put it to the exact pixel, then I would likely use the fence method instead - it's a heck of a lot easier . However, unless I know this for sure by empirical data gathered from the pictures that I request, then I will not be able to make a clear decision.

Plus, if I try hugging the palisade with the fenceposts, I could be one pixel off, and that could screw up my gate. If each pixel has an equal size in respect to the game, I don't see any reason why I can't use them to measure instead of fenceposts :D

Ahhh yes... Ye olde "I have to build my wall next to a cliff WTF do you mean I can't build there? If I can't build there, there'll be a gap!" problem. Re-designed quite a few walls to get around that. I never built off-grid though...

Take Potjeh's advice and experiment a bit with the round-pole fence.

I suppose it can't hurt... should I place the fenceposts on the grid, or should I bring them as close as I can to my cornerpost so that the distance is two fenceposts?

Emluate what your palisade would look like.

If you have friends (or a high strength), you can build 5 wall segments, break down 4 of them, build 2 cornerposts, and then build your gate, theoretically. Never tried, but I figure it should work.
