Pyroclastic Hearthlings

Postby Peter » Tue Apr 20, 2010 6:56 am

Am I the only one concerned about the health of our generous benefactors, Jorb and Loftar?
While I suspect they aren't particularly concerned with air travel, fluoride and other toxic chemicals and substances are present in the cloud.
I'd mail them a gas mask, but, well, it wouldn't get there.

Is the part of Sweden where J&L live (i.e., the good part,) safe from DeathCloud, the Smoke of Boiling Magma?
Surprise.

Moot point now. It's all magma at this point. I heard from somebody that only 130,000 Icelanders made it to relatively unscathed Greenland.
Surprise.

I am by no means an expert here, but from what I gathered from the news the ash clouds are moving more southeast, to Great Britain and then Central Europe. So I guess Sweden is not suffering more than other european countries from the volcano.

I haven't seen anything even resembling ash clouds of doom.

The latest news that I have heard says that 1,000 persons living near to the volcano have had to be evacuated, this because the glacier melting is causing the floods. It seems that the concern greatest to Iceland is the agriculture, as they rely upon the cattle there and pigs and these animals are at risk being outdoors. Also they worry the water will be contaminated.

I do not hear that there is any risk to people in Iceland at present unless it be that they have already the asthma or emphysema.

RUN ANYWAY! We can't risk losing our favorite MMO!

As for Iceland, that's pretty godawful, wish I'd heard about it before.

I had played Eve Online before and because of that knew that CCP (the creators of EVE) were headquartered in the capital (Ryjecki or whatever...I'm not going to research a spelling on that). An online article said that there was no threat to their company and the largest problem was rerouting flights halfway around the world to get workers back to Iceland from mainland Europe. I don't read the headlines too close or listen to any television news for the simple fact that I feel real good journalism is dead and the comericalization of media is all that's left. That's why the news leads with murders and shows the weather at the end of the broadcast.
