Taming's value?

Postby Heater » Wed Apr 21, 2010 3:58 am

I understand that milk can be made into cheese, but without any source of metal, I can't build a cellar to make the best cheeses. Gauze may be useful for me, but I do not know if it is worth having to feed the sheep, and I'm not sure what I could possibly need wool for other than that. Plus, if I never need any small amount of milk or gauze, I could just feed the auroch/mouflon a four-leaf clover. Is it worth it to tame cows and sheep for milk and wool?

Personally I like having butter (for Charisma and Perception if I'm not getting it elsewhere), and usually en masse, so you should factor that into your calculations.

If you're near grassland it's a no-brainer - just use clovers, as Jackard said. Of course that'll require decent Per*Explo and several trips, some without Aurochs and some without much clover, but just toss whatever you don't use immediately into a barrel and you'll get a decent stockpile eventually.

Naturally, the farther the grassland, the bigger the pain in the ass, but you can always terraform your own which is probably less of a pain than cows.
