Worth is subjective. Have you heard that saying "One man's trash is another man's treasure"? Time invested in the creation of the item/idea can be a factor in it's worth to the owner and perhaps to select people, but not to everyone. If you're angry because some dweeb came and kicked over your nice sand castle, then you may want to consider changing philosophies.
The sand castle was ALWAYS going to be a temporary thing. Rejoice in the process of creation, the skills you learnt, the time you had, and now the opportunity to start from scratch and create something new.
