Internal organization of villages

Postby al » Fri Apr 23, 2010 9:30 pm

Please, tell a little about internal organization of your village - about internal trade, financial system (coins, payment for tasks, taxes, if any), private/communal property, access to mines, profession specialization, etc.

In Kodekzia, it's pretty much an open communal thing, the mine is open access, though it's mostly miners that go there anyway. Pretty much you give me a hand, I'll give you a hand when i can.

It's pretty much ask nicely and you'll mroe than likely get it whenever the other person can get to it, with you being expected to do the same.

It's a pretty nice way of playing, but it only works if the other members of the village are good people willing to play like that. (Which in Kodekzia they are)

me vuko, tonk good hunter. vuko go an crack cow skulls with stones(den laugh like dis: haha stupid cow, you ded now hahaha), den vuko bring back lots of jummy meat an hide for rest. zuk makes pretty leather for me. an gruk come back with special stones dat mumba turns into shiny metal. vuko get strong metal plate so that stupid cow can not hurt vuko, gruk and mumba so smart and good. also steve come to feed tonk carrots and other things he call "vegitables" to vuko, vuko no like dat but steve says it good for vuko so vuko listens and eats vegitables. somewhere in village john make pretty ting from silk creatures, vuko think john use magic, john must be powerfull warlock. when someone need something or something needs done we all work to get dat done, dat make vuko glad an proud to be part of. but now vuko belly hungy so vuko go chase fox for "diet variation" cause vuko smart, vuko follow steve advice. vuko happy.

in short, our village follows a rule of "all work all share". we have our own personal stuff and our own houses but we all do our part and share the goods we make, cause we all provide for everyone else i can spend all my time doing my specific job well without worrying about all the other things i need(cause others are taking care of that. its something that works quite well for us.

yeah, communal living seems to work well for us but we have private closets to keep things we are processing or food a single hearthling needs in the next few days to get their FEPs of choice.

It really depends on what you want. Communal living is nice, and fun for everyone. Everybody can do their own thing and enjoy their own style of play, with assistance from the others. However usually such a thing doesn't excel at any given area. You usually won't have the level of quality or variety of goods coming out of the town as a whole that the "well-oiled machine" type villages get by having everyone have a job to do.

Should have clarified that we each have a specialty and it sounds like RayvenQ's.

I don't think I could be a cog in the machine, I'd get bored of farming for example if that was the only thing I ever did.

Not sure if you can call us a village but we have a system where every member has their own large plot far away from each other and we pretty much
work by ourselves, for ourselves. The mine however is public and anyone can use it. As for trade you do what you want with the metal you have
individually mined but most of the time the trade is internal and we rarely need to trade beyond ourselves.

Whoever is the bets at a particular skill is usually the one that gets asked if they can do it, I have the highest skill in cooking so people come to me when they want stuff cooked at a better q for more FEP's and such.
