tirade on trade

Postby Coriander » Fri Apr 23, 2010 10:19 pm

Like many that chose to spawn in the wilderness; I am currently playing the game in a remote area, and I am personally unhappy with my options for trade.

I find that sheer logistics make most trade I want to conduct a pipe-dream (good Q 50's hemp buds for sale here and better if I can procure materials for a good Herbalist table…) I miss the, easy to port to, central trading hub of the former map.

Another problem is the difficulty in obtaining trusted trading partners. Griefing in the guise of trade is a major concern.

I could go into more details (missing mini-map, piggy attacks, lack of storage space etc.) but I will stop here for brevity.

I have no easy solutions (horses perhaps???)

Ideas? Suggestions anyone?

well, there are some valid points, i won't really try to address those, just some suggestions for dealing with the current system.

first of all, explore, explore, explore. make a map, either in game or out of game with screenshotting your minimap, using a h4x0r client, or drawing it. check animal levels (from the safety of a boat) as you're exploring the river system in your super grid. if you notice any level 8 or lower, there is a village somewhere. find it. scout it. perhaps leave a runestone, or yell at them in area chat. be prepared to make a hasty getaway, they could be russian, or worse, goons ;)

so now, hopefully, you've explored your corner of the world, and possibly a few neighbors to trade with, what next? well the goal now i suppose would be raising agility, and convincing the nearby villages to obtain signposts to constantinople.

THIS!

exactly as sabinati pointed out, the trade is now on a more regional size. but there are efforts, to put that back on a global level. a start was made to establish constantinople as a protected trading center, in which villages can have embassies or at least get signs to the city. but we can´t do it all alone, so a pledge to the villages surrounding the central grid: build a signpost out of your walls, name it after your supergrid and help us, to connect it to Constantinople and establish a global trading network.
