Why do international people seem to use ICQ?

Why do international people seem to use ICQ?

Although not an important question, it just seemed a bit more common that people internationally were using ICQ and i was just curious as to why that is. :lol:

Some time ago I`d ask why you use anything else. But seeing as the last decent ICQ client was 2000b and I`ve been using miranda+jabber for a long time now (miranda+icq before that), I won`t.
Popularity of MSN seems to be based on a same thing that IE`s... solution for lazy people, goes with any windows. When I saw it for the first time I said "ughhh.. that` ugly" and decided to just stick with ICQ :D

The attraction is it worked good and solid before all the other stuff came out, and lots of people are very familiar with it, hell I remember using it for MW2 online (MechWarrior 2 for the youngins) clan wars.

I dont think anyone in north america uses it anymore. I used to back in highschool, but it was really annoying... only people i here using it anymore are europeans. All i can remember is you had some rediculously long number you had to remember to give to people. "hay wanna add me? my number is 2345089234750927340597820934750293745-20983450823450982340985"
