What do mines-to-be tiles look like?

Because I was collecting boughs once and I saw two 2x2 squares side by side because of object outlining from overlapping objects.

It was the same outline that objects behind a building show, and it was next to a cliff.

That would be the cliff.
It won't appear to seem like it, but the most logical explanation is that it is a cliff.
Why don't you try walking over it?

I have never prospected, however my understanding is that mine tiles don't look any different from normal tiles until you build a mine on them.
