Laketown, Gone too far.

Postby Rift » Sat Jul 04, 2009 7:28 pm

A while back i left laketown, i did so with little regret and i generally thought they were a good community.
However i left taking with me 2 chests full of steel, so they might of been a little angry.
Regardless, they ended up stealing back the steel from kaka who i had sold it to anyway...
They are quite rightly, angry at me... and have attempted to hunt me down a bit.
However today they went to far in their quest for vengence.
While i have no problem at all with them coming for me.. today they came to kaka's camp [i live outside it a bit] and after threatneing the newb that the camp was helping... [Farbror by name] and attempting to get him to expose my position [something he didn't really know anyway] they killed him for not being able to satisfy him...
Then they contacted me saying there was a dead body in the camp, and i came wondering what it was... only to find they used the dead newb as a trap. Fortunatly my high hp let me escape... but that does not change the outrage i feel at them killing someone whos only crime was living relatively near me.
Hell, i had only talked to him once since moving there.

Beware people of Haven and Hearth, lest laketown decide you are also impededing their justice.

Edit: apparently the person who attacked the noob and me was Raephire [with ingame character name: Gautearmus]

Laketown does that moron. They rob you whenever they deem you unworthy of living. Then they slay you whenever you try to find out who it is.

Maybe you should read the whole picture. Anyways, now you are public enemy number 1. Considering you have a character worth killing, I suggest moving your hearthfire somewhere good, and idling under structures as much as possible. The one thing a vigilantee hates is finding the person online thinking he can wait them out, then wasting his time monitoring a afk person who probobly is browsing webpages, playing other games, or not even home.

The only way laketown will ever not consider you hostile is if they value you enough. Then as sun tzu says "When the emissarys come with gifts and good words in their mouth they desire cease fire".

Rift, you are stark raving mad.

I am not Raephires alt, and you know that, or at least you should. I am the rather peaceful miner of Laketown, whose mined steel you stole like a coward without warning, then restole when you saw an opportunity to do so without risk.

I have not killed Farbror, whom I have never met, nor spoken to. I am sorry for his reported death, and wish him, or any alt of his welcome in Laketown for salt, bread or anything else a traveller may need. I am deeply sorry for his lost time.

Fineally, I have not put out a price to kill neither Rift, nor any of his Uncles, oxen or whatever alt asses he may have in his possession.

I do not care too much about steel, stats, or whatever player is the biggest Nimrod in the H&H universe. I do however value a good community, which I feel this game encourages, and which I felt we had in Laketown until Rift stabbed us in the back (and still have, of sorts, if our belief in the fellow player has been somewhat shaken).

Rift is the kind of player that openly admits that he never would have had the stats he has today unless he had a community to suckle nourishment and equipment from, then turns around and steels whatever steal said community may have left after outfitting him first.

Anyway, all of this is just roleplay, and I do value the few talks we had on simulation making and map generation - had there only been more of them.

So you're saying Laketown went too far but you don't think you did? You stole 2 chests of steel. You could have left with your belongings, not their STEEL. You're in the wrong here Rift. They may have murdered an innocent which isn't any better but you could have stopped it from happening to begin with. If I see you you're going to die.

He never said he didn't do anything wrong. This thread is about a representative of Laketown
murdering an innocent bystander and when you try to place the blame on Rift by saying
"if you hadn't stolen the steel in the first place, we wouldn't have killed him", that's just... I don't even know what to say.
But if you feel that way, you shouldn't have any problem whatsoever with me killing every living thing in Laketown
since one of you killed my friend.
Like collateral damage, but not.

Honestly I would like to kill everyone in Laketown. It seems like most of these villages have brought no good at all to the game. Fixed values? Fuck that. Vengeance parties? Fuck that. Leave the town take the steel? Fuck that. I make a trade and you tell me I'm spending too much? Fuck YOU.

You folks had better travel in pairs from now on because some of us are losing our tolerance.

I was away today (Saturday), thetrav probably didn't login again as he's staying at a friend or something, moonshield has not logged in for a while now and gaut was online today.

I know who did it and i won't tell you. You can easily find out yourself and you don't need to manufacture some silly half true story about this.
Gaut did say there was a dead body, and he did know who did it. But he did not tell you he knew. Why would he. Someone killed a newby..well oops. Not our problem. Rift you should feel responsible for going to Kaka's place and risk their well-being.

Seriously, in Laketowns eyes we don't care if Rift was to be murdered, but we don't actively seek to do so as we got our steel back.
Whatever reputation Rift got is all thanks to his own actions. The worse the better imo.

Also, come visit Laketown sometime if you think you're such a toughguy and never was able to have your own band of players. Go sit and cry in a corner because you're alone and weak. We stopped caring about trading so what is the deal anyway. This game doesn't want trading to happen.

It's funny to see people trying to ruin other people's well-being because of their own problems.
The ones who see things differently.

You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them, disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them.
And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius.

has anyone actually recognized the "/edit" rift made?

its funny that you, BroInc, feel so offended by the way we (towns) peacefully live together, encouraging trade and developing streets and what not.

JTG talking imprudent crap is no news, im wondering why others copy his behaviour.
