Why Don't You Play Everquest II ???

I was sifting through some game reviews by Ben "Yhatzee" (?) on the escapist, when a pop up prompted me to inform it of what MMO am I playing, and why it's so good. Turned out to be an add for Everquest 2... and asked this " Why Don't You Play Everquest II? "....

Because I used to play it... Then I realized I was shelling out 30 dollars every 6 months for re-hashed content, under a new facade with some flashy new features to make the game more like World Of Warcraft every time. Also, Sony did a really bad job with the Everquest franchise after taking it off of Verants hands and I shall never forgive them. After the nostalgia of "Classic" Everquest in Everquest 2 wore off, I stopped feeding the corporate machine. Now I ask.. Why Don't You Play Everquest II? Or WoW, Vanguard, AoC... ect.

PS.... Jorb and Loftar, I stood in the face of Sony and hailed the name of Haven and hearth.. please please please please please let me be a lizard man

Why don't I play Everquest II? Because I can't play it on a Mac unless I install Bootcamp Windows and that would defeat the purpose of me purchasing a Mac to begin with. I don't mind the game, really. It serves the purpose of playing a game for enjoyment, just like H&H does.

That's what Sony does. They aquire good games and screw them up. This is how Everquest has gone, and how SWG went. I believe they've owned Planetside from the start, but it would (could?) be THE MMOFPS, if only they'd realize they need some sort of actual trial, and it might be best to find a way to make it micro-transactions instead of $15 a month.

I do play WoW, I just play this too, and several other games. I have never played EQ2, nor the original, though I have played some other older games. There's a similar situation with Lineage and Lineage 2, though in that case, most of the people who play and enjoy L2 never played the original. The games are so different from each other it's amazing.

I was perfectly satisfied with the pseudo-mmo feel of Diablo 2. Everquest never appealed to me, as it seemed too off the deep end of nerdy fantasy.

WoW translates in my head into "that thing Blizzard made instead of Starcraft 2 because they love money sooooooo much." Every other game that they made besides those in the Warcraft series might as well have been social experiments to find out what good stuff to take back into the next Warcraft, since they are open about WC being their favorite. It's annoying because it always came off as extremely boring to me. WC3 was an exercise in micromanaging tedium and unholy cost-balancing bullshit (Fuck you, upkeep).

Outside of my specific biases, I'm generally biased toward free MMOs and private pirate servers. There are a lot of good servers for all kinds of things out there, they're just a little harder to sift through.

and also H&H is better. even I had the money though, I still wouldent play them. Its not that people get addicted and wont leave there computers its the fact that the game is even played by people like that that bothers me, who would want to be associated with that? not me, thanks anyway.
