so this is what it feels like

One of my villagers made a mistake. this mistake was to steal from an active settlement(apparently). those who lived there tracked him to our village and, finding the gates open, strode in and slew every last person they could find. most of them online at the time. only a few remain. I tried to follow the scents they left but they live so far its just not practical to get to them. I never thought it possible for anyone not to mention me could grieve and feel anger over the death of non-existent characters that belong to people you hardly know. Rage consumes me, sadness fills me, vengeance burns in my heart. though it will take forever, I will travel ever into west to avenge the deaths of those who I called friends. I will probably fail.

anyway, has anyone else ever felt this way? of coarse the people who came and killed them were sort of in the right in killing one, but not the rest. we tell our people not to take things from active places but sometimes they do, and before you ask, the gates were open because a couple people have keys and for some reason they never close the doors, nothing was stolen except a few things I am holding the scents from. so i ask again, has anyone ever felt this way? not the need to give up on this game, but the need to continue playing just because you are the last survivor or because like me you are filled with a mixture of dangerous and completely unreasonable emotions?

Avu wrote: NEVER EVER USE THE GATE. EVER. DON'T DO IT. You think keys are cool? and every one in your village should have one? Well your a dumbfuck then. Only key to that gate should stay on an alt you bring out on holidays and by holidays I mean when your outside crossroad has been vandalized. Of course the holiday implies much armed forces to protect the rare event of opening ones gate.

I feel for you man. The rage will subside and so will the grief for your friends that were slain...

Don't give up, you have already paid the school fees, don't let it be in vain.

One way crossroads.

It ain't really your fault at all.
There's been many villages who have been absolutely slaughtered and they've all quit together.
It's sad, really, but it can't be helped either. Rise up from the ashes like a phoenix and live on!

Ive learned more details. positive stuff now. no keys were taken and unlike what i thought previously only one person was killed. apparently they came, killed the person who stole, demanded their stuff back, and offered a profitable and peaceful trade relationship. its hard for me to get many details. most of my village lives on the other side of the world so im not normally on when they are. Im not angry anymore or as sad, but lets keep this thread going, has anybody else had an experience like this? oh and thank you guys for throwing some nice condolences in my direction instead of directing me to something else about how to properly protect my village.

Lol. This is why you don't jump to conclusions, and it's probably a good thing they killed that guy since he might have continued stealing and maybe one day attract hostiles to your village and ransack it.

wow, talk about jumping to conclusions, glad your village is ok.

Seriously though, the offensive advice from AVU is good advice, stop using keys, use crossroads instead

yeah we are talking about that in our village now. how do you keep others from using your crossroads, i've never used them myself.
