Pine Valley's been around for quite some time, though. I don't think they'd be responsible for any sudden increase in civilization.

They just recently ignited their totem. Both a portion of mine and Kakas forest have been reduced to level I. making slim pickings. This is why my suggestion for making forests push against civ is so desperate.

It would neutralize the affects of their area on the surrounding forests.

It's built on grassland. But i am not sure how the idol effects the area. Pine valley always been a shit forest to hunt in ever since heartfires effected wildlife.

Also, it's just their idol. Even if they would live outside the forest it would effect the area.

You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them, disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them.

Yea, This is why I am encouraging loftar to make forests, even player made, push against civ census, the thicker it is the better. making stronger creatures spawn deeper in forests.
