Mainly its all preference mate. But if you would of asked whats better melee or archery for pvp and hunting then they both have clear bonuses. Like I said its all about preference.
Ohh and archery sucks at pvp.

Melee for brute power, unarmed for fancy manoeuvres. Typically people use unarmed as a secondary skill when they get lots of LP, but they start with just melee.

Oh thanks melee huh, and yah I just realized range would be very useless in pvp since people will just keep moving.
Anyways what item can I do people want for melee items?

if you mean what item you could make that could be traded for melee items (sword and shit like) you could make silk, river pears and cavebulbs, a lot of ppl buy those.

Yeah, use an alt for the per for cavebulb hunting. Unless you want to be an archer. Oh and btw if you get your mm up high enough you can shoot moving targets. If its even higher you can shoot moving targets while moving yourself. The problem is you'd need a monstrous sling or a good ranger bow to beat the soak on ppl's armor (or can the "best" ranger bows even beat soak on the "best" armor people are making now?) and the ranger bow is MASSIVELY slow compared to the bow, which is massively slow compared to the sling. You would need hundreds of mm to hit moving targets with a ranger bow i would imagine. Tho even this dukey version i made just to see how slow it was dealt four something damage to a bear (after i took a break to wait for it to get up to the high red on the bar while the bear was stuck on a rock :D) which was probably pretty far from its max since i have like 40-something perception and didn't even have specs or a monocle on. So yeah there's that :D

Unarmed is used for mainly offense with low
defense capabilities but overwhelming power
that is applied through several punches. Melee
has far more defense but it's damage is all in
one attack basically, since you need 2 coins per
sting and they are most likely not about to stay
in one spot if they see you getting coins for a
sting and not running. If you plan on attacking
people then UA kills them faster because you
can immediately punch them and for some that's
a KO. If you plan on defending yourself and
hunting, melee is the way to go because you can
one shot most animals (no running foxes and boars
wooh!)

And for Marksmanship, it has cool uses for offense
when you attack a base and find someone cooking
or something, a ranger's bow will take them out
immediately and cause panic to anyone in the area.
Marksmanship is also great for hunting, you don't
have to make the animal fight you to kill it, so less
health you'll need to heal later.
