Internet Connection Dickery

Postby Azkanan » Fri Jun 25, 2010 12:06 pm

I've been on a contract of 18 months with TalkTalk for about 14 months now, and every day we have the shittest connection you can imagine. Whilst we do attain between 100-400KBs in transfer rates, the connection is so unstable that we can only have a few hours of uptime before the connection decays slowly to Bytes transferred, then breaks off, where we have to reboot. Recently, the internet has been disconnecting suddenly and doesn't restart for hours - extreme rage in the case of attempted play of HnH.

Do any other Englishmen have the same Issue with TalkTalk?

Also, here's a very aggravated email I just sent;

First, let me grab your attention with the fact that at this rate, I will be breaking off from the contract by the end of it, if the connection is not made as stable as promised, at this rate.

Now, I pay TalkTalk under the contract - a promise - that we are given a stable connection to Broadband. Yet after the first month last year sometime, internet problems began. We've been through the Technical Support, who have repeatedly boosted the connection, and the internet is still terrible.

For some of the day, it will work fine. But then the speed will slowly degrade till it reaches Bytes transferred instead of KBytes, then it crashes out.
Recently, this has escalated to the point that not only does this pattern of slow-down-to-crash happens every few hours, where we fix it by reconnecting to the servers/reboot, we now suddenly lose connection.
On the status page, the DSL and Wireless are Green Ticks, whilst the Internet is a big nasty Red Cross.Rebooting doesn't fix this issue and is seemingly a server-side issue. This downtime can go on for between minutes to hours.

Again I reiterate that this is a gross misconduct of the contract that we, my household, signed, and we will be breaking off and seeking a new Provider if we cannot attain at least a decent connection of a few hours before we have to reboot.

Aggravated Regards,
xxxx xxxx.

I had the exact same problem with Orange broadband not too long ago. Switching to Sky did the trick

We've actually used BT and Orange, and they're both shit, or were.

Sky costs too much.

Yeah, Sky is shit. Only around 80kb/s download rates for me which is incredibly dildos and tear worthy. I want to switch to Virgin Media, because fibre optic propaganda makes me want to do so, plus I worked for them in the past so I know slightly more about their crap than Sky's 'elusive eternets'.

Sky's crap.
TalkTalk just sounds third rate.
I once was a man of murder, grief, and sadness. No more.

Wow, you people have horrible connections. I use Cox. 54 Mbps, super stable and fast connection.

That's because you're American. I have yet to find a decent English ISP that gives a Mb line.
