Well, while we sit hear contemplating murder-suicide pacts waiting for the server to return to us, let's talk about all the crap we want from the next map lest we rage on Sweden for some apparent reason.
Everyone in my village is always going on about oceans. Ocean this, ocean that. I like the ocean idea, in moderation. I don't want some Wind Waker/Waterworld mega-ocean or just an archipeligo. One good sized ocean, say in the center, est, or south would do it for me... Of course, we'd need larger vessels... We need Galleys. I guess the ocean plays into people's desire for deep water...
Anyways, stuff I want to see the jungle area play a more prominent role, as well as add tropical trees, foods, and tropical variants to critters, like have wildebeest replace aurochs, or tigers replace bears. Actually, if we were to keep more with the Scandinavian/Slavic background, maybe we should add or replace jungles with polar tiles, filled with snow and snow drifts that eat stamina, but would have rare plants only available in this terrain, as well as polar critters that are much tougher and can ignore stamina loss due to snow drifts, but offer new pelts and special meats with plenty of con, dex, and psyche boosts, and are normally a higher q than their temperate counterparts, like:
Bear -> Polar Bear
Boar -> Walrus
Deer -> Caribou
Fox -> Arctic Fox
Chicken -> Penguin
Aurochs - > Yaks
I guess mouflon could remain the same and spawn as usual, just have a higher innate q in this terrain. You would be able to stuff penguins in something like chicken coops and raise them like chickens, but instead of seeds, you would have to put in fish to feed them. A polar terrain (along with a n ocean) could open up the possibility of whaling. This terrain could also add in the possibility of hunting beavers.
Also, mines could be more plentiful in this terrain, but the badass critter and the taxing drifts would make it hard to find and settle, and you really couldn't grow crops there (Although you could possibly pave), so you would have to rely on hunting and fishing for food there.
I guess you could also use the dig command to harvest snow (like you would clay) and be able to make (with water) snow-pack walls (which would be easy to make, better than roundpost walls, but weaker than palisades, and lack gates; one could also make igloos (Something in-between log cabin and timber house, doesn't need paved ground underneath to slow decay) with snow. However, housing in polar regions could be restricted by the fact that one cannot build a cellar due to permafrost, further upping the challenge of living in this terrain.
Lobster traps... and lobsters. They should add those too.
Anyone else got any ideas for new ideas, because I'm bored, and possibly lazy. I don't know.
