The worst part about being attacked by a large group of Goons is that you can't fight back, because you'll leave a murder scent and get killed while you're offline. Discuss.

No one is worried, that's what our brick fortresses are for. If said goons can even see/track your clue. And get through your wall. Yeah, no, not happening.

EDIT: Also, you're probably just provoking them, if you aren't one yourself.
i guess they never miss huh

This has been discussed many times.

1 - Walls (the newest version of cart gates) should save you unless someone in your village wants to betray you.
2 - You don't need to kill people to defend yourself (granted though a bludgeon scent can also summon you)
3 - Don't kill people unless you want the risk of someone wanting to kill you back for revenge, same as real life.

I don't think the current system is ideal, I'd much prefer you automatically fought back when force summoned, but it's not grievously bad.

Fishing isn't provoking. Not everyone can build a brick wall, but enough griefers are strong enough to break it down, and there is at least one among them who's been macroing long enough to track anything, and running away shouldn't be the end-all answer to being attacked. Keep going.

That's subjective, to some it could be. (not saying you were, just noting)

You mean not everyone wants to invest the time and effort to do so. This is true, however a palisade wall is also pretty darned tough.

You can't macro grind strength. If they're strong enough, then they've earned the right to bust your wall down.
If it's on a claim they'll leave a vandalism strength.
If you're in serious trouble, call upon some of the powerful rangers to help you sort things out.

It's not and I don't think anyone suggested it should be.
If you are attacked you have the choice of fighting, fleeing or letting them cut you down.
If you fight, you are going to leave yourself open to revenge, as is proper.
If they take their revenge, they leave themselves open to counter revenge, as is proper.

There is no 100% safety, and there shouldn't be. This is how feuds happen, as is proper.

Defending myself against a goon who's been macroing for 3 days so that I can get killed while my month-old character is offline is proper?

Your words are probably not what you're arguing there... Defending yourself is proper if that's what you want to do.

Having your character killed by someone who's been macro grinding sucks a bit.

Question though, HAS THIS ACTUALLY HAPPENED TO YOU?

I'm guessing not and I'm guessing you're over-exaggerating the macro-grinder problem under the assumption that it will happen.

Once again, I repeat. You cannot macro grind strength, build a wall with a gate, put your hearth fire behind it and that's as safe as you're going to get.
Increasing that security is no solution to anything, if macro grinders become an extreme problem J&L have already considered ways of countering them, they just don't want to waste their time fighting a non problem when they could be implementing fun stuff for the map reset

I meant this thread is a good way of provoking them, not anything you are doing ingame.

If you want to view yourself as completely hopeless and bound to be killed by a mob of goons (???), go ahead and quit the game. No one will miss you.

I didn't mean build your own walls, I meant move in with someone who has some. You'd be fucking retarded if you built your own and you're a newbie.

Oh, lastly, walls have soak values. The vast majority of goons (if not all) cannot even land a single hitpoint of damage on the walls yet. If they can, it means they invested the time, not macro'd.

To clarify, the goons don't have to be the ones strong enough to kill me when they would sacrifice themselves to leave a murder scent for JTG to finish the job. And I safely assume he's been jogging long enough on his main to have 80 strength.

He does have at least 80 strength, he had that as of a few days ago.

How would you know they are willing to sacrifice themselves for him? He's not some kind of God that they all worship. Unless I'm mistaken. Even still, it's doubtful he'd get through a brick wall.
