Diary of a Hearthling

Postby Lordryan » Wed Jul 07, 2010 9:37 pm

I have tasted the structure of village life since my first few minutes of playing H&H. So, I have taken upon myself to make a new Character, and to spawn in the wild. This is my diary...

Day 1:
After making my new character named Jumin(Weird name, I know), I spawn in the wilderness, next to a lake and river. Within my first 5 minutes of walking about, I have made myself an Axe, and almost ran into a bear. I start following the River due South, in hopes of perhaps finding an abandoned settlement to loot from. It is currently night, and I have already started using my first torch, which should last me a while to get started.

After following said river, I run into a peninsula, and start fearing that I am currently on an island, which has been a curse of mine with new characters. I start wandering West, when a BOAR jumps out from behind a tree and ambushes me. My first 15 Min and I have already lost 2HHP. Something tells me this will not go good. I am currently waiting for said Boar to deaggro me as I type. He seems to be unnaturally drawn to me, as I have been waiting for 5+ minutes now. I hope that it soon grows bored, and goes away.

I have now logged out and back on, and thank goodness it is gone. I now continue my journey. Already, another Boar has started to chase me, not even 2 minutes after escaping the previous one. I am now wandering in the shallows. I will be setting up camp as soon as it is day. I have already started on Torch #2.

So far, my exploration has led to the conclusion that I am indeed on an island. I hope to find a house, or settlement of some sort to help me on my way. This hope seems to grow smaller by the minute... But look now. just 5 minutes after typing the previous sentence, I have found a house, with a road. I am currently approaching it to see if anyone lives there. I have found clues to guess that it is. There is a man sleeping on a bed, and nothing seems to have any decay, "Hello?", I cry out, but there is no one else.

After look around the house, I search the surrounding landscape, looking for a neighbor, but to no Avail. I start to work on a small camp, next to said farmstead, complete with Leanto, baskets, and a bed. I have made my new HF, In case I get lost or some such.

So Ends my first Entry. I hope it entertained you, and I will try to keep this updated as much as I can. Thank you :D

Well, It's morning where I live, and I think i'll add an entry, since there's so much demand :P .
Also be reminded I type this/these entries while I am playing in-game.

Day 2:
I wake up my character, Jumin, and find that it is currently night. I get busy setting up some fires and get my last torch. I still haven't managed to find out when the farm owner gets on, or if he/she is still active. I start my log-in time goign around the farm, saying "Hello" to see if anyone is in the area. Same as yesterday, no one is there. As I type this sentence, I'm gathering branches to make fires for light, and to gain LP. I have already eaten all my beginners bread, so I'll have to get some food soon.

Good news! I just got the skill, "Hunting"! I'm off to look for some rabbits. I don't think i'll see that many, as they don't come out during the night... Anyways, I set out from my camp towards the north. I have been walking around for a while now, but I haven't seen anything yet. I found a Deer Herd, but I can't do anything with them. I don't even have a sling. Oh, and there's a Fox. My first catch of the day! I have gotten a rabbit using my usual technique. I walk up next to it, switch to run, and right click it. Always works :) .

I am currently hoping for atleast 5 rabbits before I head back, as that is almost my max limit without a backpack. I have run into the most useless animal in the game, a FROG! I just wish you could eat those too... Rabbit #2! I'll have an Agility level up soon. I just wonder what you do with it... Run faster? Anyways, back to the hunt. I am at "Hungry", so have to get my goal soon.

Good news! I found a Half-Finished Well signpost, and also a Stone path on my Minimap! I'm currently walking over to see what's there. Also, I got my 3rd rabbit! Rabbit number 4, just 2 mins after. I'm making amazing progress since I logged in about 20 mins ago. Before mentioned stone path has a Fence, and I can see a house inside! Time to look around :P .

I have gone around to the front of said house (Timber House) and read a runestone. It says, "Moki's Abode". There is a HF with a person asleep in a Lean-To next to it. I'm still investigating. The house itself is on a small claim, and a ninja boar has crept in behind me... I am trying to hide as best as I can, but its night vision will find me in the end. Turns out I was right. I lost all my SHP and 2 HHP, bringing me down to 96 HHP. He is still hitting me... down to 94. Good news is, he de aggro'd me, so i'll be safe soon enough.

I'm safe! It's locked in! I guess I could come back to this house later on to see who lives there. well, back to camp! I am walking there, hoping to get my 5th (target) rabbit on the way. I grabbed a dead rabbit hanging from a fox's jaw. I am now going to teleport home and make myself a meal.

I leave you here for now. I will try to post some later on. Have fun with all your adventures, and good luck :D !

Sure thing Saites ;)

Day 3:

I wake my character up, and as usual go hunting for some rabbits. I catch a few and roast the meat, keeping the other parts. I go visit the 2 houses I know of. Still no activity. I decide to just keep moving, and to look for another place to settle. I gather my things, and start marching along the river. I soon stumble upon a Boar, and run into the water. I just stay in the shallows and keep walking. Soon enough, the Boar forgets I ever existed. I keep on walking, through Grasslands and Swamps, Forests and Plains. I then stumble upon a belt looking grassland.

I had the feeling someone was on the other side of the river, but I didn't have boat making yet. So I kept on walking. I see a house on the minimap! I hide for a second to gather myself, then off I go. "Hello", I cry out. But there is no reply forth coming. I read a runestone nearby. It says,"Frothgar was here. Want to trade? I live East along the river". For those who do not know, Frothgar's house is where my earlier camp was. I soon continue my travels...

A piece of the minimap has caught my attention. I walk towards it, wondering what else could be out here. It's an abandoned claim! there is a chair, a claim (Not so large), dream catcher, and some crops. I decide to harvest some of each plant, for future uses. I must first gather some LP for "Farming", which is going to be a pain. 5+ minutes later, I have my Farming skill. I gather up 2 of each plant, just for good measure.

Soon enough, I have 2 Hemp Seeds, Hop Cones, and Tea Seeds. I continue my journey onwards. I left the owner some rabbit skins, and bones for recompense. I now turn my feet westward, hoping to find someone or something to help me, or perhaps a nice place to live. I have now found a river, and following it West/South-West. After following this river for a while, I come across a rolling plains. Signs of previous travelers are evident. I see camps, building sites, and other things. Perhaps I am close to civilization.

I am now trapped by a boar. I'm going to grab a snack while I wait... Okay, I'm back and the boar is still there. Wonder what to do now. I decide to just log out and log back in. Easiest way to do this... It has been 5 minutes, time to log back in. The boar has gone away. Time to resume my journey! Soon enough, I find a Heath field. I found a skeleton! I wonder what this forebodes...

Well, I'll leave you here for now. I will try to get on and post more later, but no promises. Good luck on all your Adventures :D

Very nice findings on the crop, it was indeed nice of you to leave some skins for if the person comes back.
Great story once again.
