I think the world should be wiped once a year minimum

but also at the same time there should be two worlds running at the same time one world six months old and new world starts and you can still play on the old one but you will also have the new one so every 6 months there will be a new world

That's what a lot of game do , one world that never reset and one that reset regulary.
It's a good idea , but probably not a good one for HnH.

To the circlejerk of veteran players here, I wanted to offer the perspective of a new player.

You are incorrectly assuming that everyone playing this game is (like you) looking to "catch up", "be competitive", become a "superpower" and so on. What you are missing is that for a game about survival in the wilderness there isn't much "game" left for a new player this late in the World. Nothing to explore, nothing aim for, except "catching up".

To use an analogy: someone shows up late to a party, where everyone else has either gone home already, or laying around drunk and sleeping. And you are effectively telling that guy: "What's your problem? You can 'catch up in no time'. Just down those 3 sixpacks in one go, and you'll be the same as everyone else".

So my answer to you is: what's the f-ing point, the DAMN PARTY IS OVER anyway!


Now I'm not saying as a new player I'm entitled to a "new party". But, you know, it sure would be nice.

We're not incorrectly assuming anything. 8+ years of experience have pretty much made that as the one reason anyone that isn't new here quits playing and then jumps back in when a new world starts. For some strange reason, people have the mindset that if they get ran out of where they're living, they're out of the game, they can't come back, they stand a chance next time, etc, etc, etc.

As a new player, you don't want a new world. New worlds are cutthroat and people die left and right like it's a bad version of pubg. The last couple world starts were a good bit better as people were scattered across the map instead of clustered toward center. It's an improvement that I hope stays.

I'm just going to say that not long ago I made a character which I decided to roleplay as an asshole. I rushed the black skills and stole a great many things, found a sword I couldn't use. When one of my victims saw me tresspassing on his land he hid behind his walls. He was an established player with a month or so of playtime behind him. He was scared of me.

It was midway through my first week. I had less than 20 in all stats and some kind of infection from leeches and dirty swamp water and I was at half hhp and low on hp from stealing like... bones or something.

That wasn't a thing at world start since people stopped spawning at the ring of brodgar. It's just that when the world was expanded people wouldn't spawn in the extended parts. Only world that was different was w8 I think where the map was so mind-numbingly huge no one saw anyone, in the beginning or later.

Still, in a new world people are gonna get robbed and slaughtered. People don't get killed nowadays because it's usually only people with nothing worthwhile that put themselves in bad scenarios. Noobs that have only played in the established world right now are in for a rude awakening if they expect to not get wrecked in a fresh world.

"Veteran players" should know that world starts are the most fun part and only time the server is active. It takes a few months for things to settle then a year or a few to become totally stale.

However I dont agree with making world restart a scheduled thing. Nothing good comes from having a defined end date.

This is honestly a good time to just have fun right now. There's a lot of loot lying around unprotected. You don't really have to work much for anything. It's a really good time to make an alt and live life dangerously for a bit. Or if you prefer to play the policeman create one you can afford to lose and you might be surprised just who you can kill and what you will find inside his house.

Because if you want to get anything done at all in the first few months after a reset you will need a certain set of skills. I suspect after the next reset the returning players will be around for longer than before as well. There is a lot of new content now. If the map is small it will be a very rough world to live in for a long time I think, especially if pali bashing returns.
