Personally, I think the reset would be good even with the current problems. Thinking that everything can be fixed in a decent amount of time is nonsense.

I love to play fresh characters, going around and trying to be better than I was before. But right now, the map is completely spammed with abandoned places (even with decay), and whatever you need is easier to find than to craft at this point. I used to like scavenging, but now it's just too much. You find abandoned places with pearls, troll hides and bones, and all kind of stuff just waiting for someone to grab it; go figure what you could find in the 'forgotten' active claims you can find everywhere.

Another option (no idea if it's doable) would be expanding the map and having new characters spawn only in those new areas. You would still have the late-game players to test stuff, and allow new players (or returning ones) to have some kind of fresh feeling. No walled off resources, no trails and claims, just a new area of the map where people can spawn into or move to.
Sure people could just walk back to the older part, but that would require actively seeking it, you wouldn't bump into it every step you take.

At this point, I'm hoping for a XMAS or new year surprise reset...

Agreed bro. My friends and me started playing again few days ago. In 3 days we seen no other players around, but we scarvanged so much stuff like q200+ trees, Q1000 armour, Q100+ instruments (loom, anvil, spining wheel).
Now the game for new players is non-stop grinding LP for nothing. we got absolutely no way to upgrade this stuff. Ones who say the world is ok for new players obviously never played this world as new player.

i just restarted few days ago, to see how the game works from scratch: i don't scavenge anything and drop everything i get from other sources that won't be possible for me to obtain...somehow hard mode but fun, especially considering that i built underground near a small deep lake with some fishes...

If you play as a single player without scavenging - the game is fun as is. But if you manage to find anyone he may kill you from 1-2 punches if he wants to. That's why some people want a new world. To get competitive, not single player when you are constantly under threat.

Some returning players can get competetive in less than 2 months, considering they're not solo players and know what they are doing.

Excuses.

Updating a status about our new life as 5x heathlings:
Today I(forager) found a forgotten base. I found 804Q carrots (gathered by me with 1 farming skill), other crops 700+q including strings, also food, symbel, q150+, BRANCHES 715Q so i have stone axe Q 204 now. There are about 50+ heads of cattle dead and forgotten. Here's screenshot:
Image

DO YOU REALLY TELL WE CAN COMPETE THAT IN 2-3 MONTHS? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

Trees are 300+!!!!!!!! There are even some sort of mushroom-trees in cave Q200. WTF ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?

GAME OVER for our group now. ALL THE INTEREST IN GAME IS LOST. WE NEED NOTHING ANYMORE. 3 days, Carl!

OK! If we want to calculate HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE to get to "game level" for a newbie - Let's go to maths!

Crops are 800+Q.
That means we need a farmer with 800 farming skill. Let's calculate LP needed for 1-800 farming skill boost!

Using Gauss method it's (801*400 *100)-100= 32 039 900 LP.

For an average begginer 2k LP/hour is an adequate average number:
Image

That means we need 16019 hours of non-stop learning to get 800 lp in farming. 16019/24= 667 days.
Uhhhhhhhhh. Really. 2 months bro. Almost hit the number.

And that's only 1 skill!

You're bad at math, you don't understand anything about the game, and unfortunately the dev teams listens to people like you.

Of course i realize that later in game you are - the more LP/H you get. But really. Consider that fact 800 in skill is unreachable.

And also: adequate people argue before telling the other he's wrong. So argue please or shut.

P.S. Also i never listen to opinion of people who has nickname XXXXXXXXX_AAAADREEEENNNeeeeeeeeSSSSS_XXXXXXXXXXXXX
