This was originally a single post in the «small announcement» thread, but then it got lenghty and i decided to create a separate one.
I personally find the «new world or riot» meme extremely obnoxious. There's no real reason to demand it right now — we are still waiting for the client rewrite and optimization, fep and questing balancing retouches, another potential combat rework and optimization.
There are also new features that would be nice to see in the new world that were promised/talked about (modular housing, walkable docks, bridges and extra features like that, all tied to object controlled objects rework).
The game is also extremely inaccessable to the new players. There are tonnes and tonnes of obscure game mechanics, a severe lack of up-to-date guides (working on updating my guides atm), and absolutely no way for people to learn about wiki and «How do I» section of the forum in the first place. Links to wiki and to the forum must be included in the starting quest, which itself should be expanded upon into the yeomanry part of the game: create a personal claim, build a house, build racks, dry WWWs and plant a farm, ride a wild horse by feeding it a clover, tame an animal by beating it up, etc etc. The current introduction quests just abruptly end after teaching the most basic and simple mechanics, hell, it doesn't even teach that you can rotate and delicately position items on tiles. I understand that learning and discovery is a huge part of the game, but there absolutly has to be some codex of things and mechanics that you can do to interact with the world. Without knowing how to interact with the world, it's impossible to learn new things.
There are also different bugs and exploits that are in the game for a long time which give massive advantage to any experienced players (hunting mammothes and cave life through palisades, taming/hunting through rocks and bushes (it's still viable), and many more i cant recall now or dont know). Only the most severe bugs and abuses, usually related to raiding, get fixed fast.
Lastly, there's a matter of releasing the game on bigger platform (think Wurm Infinite). It's possible for game of this scope, style and genre to be hosted on Steam, but it has to be more polished.
Without any actual new and valuable additions and fixes to the game, the next potential world would be just the same as this — insane quality race in the beggining, bots, abusers and people with knowledge running rampant, leaving noobs in the dust, culmitating in several big fights in the first months, then the losers of the race will quit, demanding the new reset again.
So, tl;dr: please, dont just spam every thread with this shit. World restart wont help neither core or current issues of the game.
