As far as I know, I am the only one who has gold, and for sure the only one selling it. One would be a fool not to capitalize on a monopoly.

That said, I have yet to see any offer worth gold even if it wasn't under a monopoly.

Having a monopoly doesn't mean you can set any price you want. Well, technically you can, but you won't get any customers. It's just that no piece of jewellery is worth 10 steel for the benefits it gives. 1 steel for 1 nugget would be a realistic price.

Please look up the word monopoly before you continue.

What can you do with one bar of steel? 1 nugget of gold can make a ring that gives a small bonus to all attributes. A Q22 ring gave me +4 to all stats. To a person with a FEP bar of only 50 that ring would be giving them 1600 FEP points.

Can't do much with 1, but with 2 you can make a soldier's sword, which will pay itself off in hunting in a matter of days. Or with more steel you could make armour, letting you hunt higher level animals, which means you'd earn more LP. 1600FEP points is peanuts. You can get that out of a couple of bears, which you can hunt more easily if you have steel equipment. Or, you can use 5 bars to make yourself a gate, and live safely behind brick walls. They may not be completely thief-proof, but they make you immune to 99% of thieves, which saves you tons of valuables in the long run.

Bottom line, steel is the most useful material in the game.

The simple mechanics of supply and demand will force him to lower his prices or to not sell anything at all. This has nothing to do with monopoly anymore. Period.

And lol @Sherlock Voodoo. Do you really think blaze would offer a thanes ring in one thread and then take on the effort to conceal his identity in the next?

Bare with me for a second, Let's say bears gave FEP that gave you a point going down the list after every level and that BBB's have not been nerfed.
For a Soldier's sword I would be trading two rings that give me in total ~9600 FEP, which would be 192 BBB's from the old map. I would have to hunt 48 bears and 96 boars to make that up and all for 1 lousy soldier's sword.

Making steel is much more work than hunting. Especially now that there's temp-q. Now you have to practically give up every semblance of social life, work or school to make decent steel. Oh, and you have to give up sleep too.
