Some people think that that can only be done with certain kinds of poppies. This is not true. For instance, the state flower of California1, the California Poppy2, can be brewed into a very mildly opiate tea. Still, most varieties aren't even as potent as catnip...

1: For those not familiar with it, it's where Hollywood and LA is. It's wayyy better than it sounds. It has San Fransisco, for instance. It also has a place called Death Valley, which unfortunately isn't close enough to LA and Hollywood. It might help to think of California not as a administrative division of the US but rather as a separate country that is a member of a close alliance with the other, lesser States of the Union. Except for Florida.
