Wrought Iron-en masse

Postby Jfloyd » Sun Jul 12, 2009 5:17 am

I need 40 wrought Iron for my brick walled fortress.
The problem is, loftar hasn't given me a mine yet, but I'm full industry so I can't bake anything. I also don't have any metal to make a meat grinder to make hunting useful.
So, if someone is willing to loan me iron, say 10 bars at a time, and have me work it off, by say collecting things, I'll gladly do it. Just PM me.

Why do you need 40 pieces? Just make one cornerpost and spread out, it only takes 3 bricks to extend.

In any case, I'm making wrought iron as we speak, it'll probably take a bit since I'm by myself though.

Oh. I didn't know that, I figured you had to build the four posts then each one could only go in one direction.

A cornerpost built directly from the wall's build options cost only 10 bricks, and cornerposts can extend in all 4 directions.

Assuming you're building in a square/rectangle, the easiest way would be to start next to where you want the gate to be, then extend in one direction, and build a cornerpost at the wall's corner, and continue going around.

I'm making it from scratch so it take awhile, I don't want to have to dig into my reserves unless I have to.

That, and I'd have to walk across the half the map far in level X territory and figure out which tree I hid it behind.

Each additional corner post on a pre-existing wall costs 5 wrought iron.

Well...
Fundamentally repugnant concept.
