Roskuwacz actually cares less about killing sprucecaps than I do. My humble opinion of Roskuwacz is that he's a stellar person who enjoys making a community in the game. He only puts in the effort to run WB/Brodgar because without him in that mantle, it's likely nobody else will. But he's not trying to change PvP norms in the game. The rule in W14 WB was that you could PvP, you just weren't allowed to gank WB citizens.
That was probably a moot rule however, because nobody in WB even PvPed at all. When Bob and I were hermiting in W14, we traveled there to get them their Rock Crystal from their local nodes, because they didn't even have a single PvPer.
It was when I started to get involved in leadership in WB W15, and began founding our PvP group from scratch, that we started playing with the idea of not ganking newbs at all. I consulted with other leadership and our PvPers, and the consensus was the most I could probably reasonably require was that our continent/realm would be off limits to ganking.
I think Bob explains the rationale well here.Does NoInek like "foraging?" Of course. But he's still a valuable member of the team. We can't change the entire world overnight. But we can carve out an area of it that, at least, the dominant faction isn't going to gank you and instead try to help you meaningfully, hermit or ally.
Wait, I forgot, we aren't a faction. WB is just newbs that lose to ants.
