Define Raider?

I was once a spruce but I'm no longer a hermit :D

This is the trinity of haven. Youre either a Spruce, a hermit or a Raider. Factions are the closest to the Hobbsian Leviathan as is possible in the world of Haven and Hearth. Factions are the Hammer with which the Leviathan is nailing the Nail of Pain and suffering upon the Anvil (Edit: A wood anvil, well those dont exist, well nevermind you get the idea.) of the Spruces and Hermits.

I have seen the wastes arround the faction bases. All hermits (Edit: I mean Sprucacps) are either devoured by the great Leviathan or a subject to the wims of the Behemoth of the natural world, like it is the nature of the Sprucap - at least for now.
The only beacon of light is the hermit: He may escape the clutches of both terrible beasts, tho in doing so he sacrifice his ability to saveguard the save evolution of their kin, the sprucecaps, by refusing to learn PVP.

If you want to know true nature of a sprucecap don't aggro them when they approach your base with an undried claim. 80%+ of them will try to steal from you and bash your shit, and then when they realize you got rage in the first 2-3h of the world they'll just be like "OH IM JUST A LIL SPRUCIE IM JUST A LIL SPRUCE WHY WOULD YOU ATTACK ME".

Don't kid yourself, Jimmy. If a sprucecap ever got the chance, he'd murder you and everyone you care about!

This, but unironically.

Sprucecaps aren't good people, they are just new. The safest thing to do is kill them off before they pose a danger to those you love and care for.
Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy

douchebags with 5k hours in the game drooling at the thought of sociopathic activities with new players is absolute pond scum levels of cringe, no one cares outside of this little community no one knows about, truly. No one cares you know how to advance your character faster with your knowledge of the game. quite literally NO ONE who matters cares.

I (dont)look forward to the "posts" where people pretend to be friends "Oh he gave me a curio I'll open the gates!" no one cares little bro.

Forum posts after that " why no players?!?" no one cares little bro

Do your murder spree shit, you shit community. You deserve the 300 pop

Anyone who quits or doesn't play because of over inflated, made up issue of PvP in their heads are just playing the wrong game sir. I would say 90% of the drop is because people just naturally get bored of the game after playing months and it is only normal.

I've for example have died dozens of times from another player and not complaining about it since I know it is an essential part of the game. Read the developer thoughts on PvP and you might see why they are playing the wrong game and it is not a devs issue, link is in my signature

This.
I'm telling you now, the worlds in which I get left alone are the ones I drop the earliest. Comparatively, the worlds in which I was having bored PvPers skulking around my gates trying to catch me out were the ones I stuck around for the longest.
Tedium is the real killer in this game. Once you're set up and have everything you wanted and there's nothing really new to do, only quality grind, the game becomes a chore.
Logging in to do chores and maintain my character and base and animals have made me quit more than any PvP or loss of character ever could hope to do.

You know, I'd be willing to bet if I actually lost my character during that stage where I'm beginning to lose interest that it may, funnily enough, prolong my time in the game for just that little bit longer rather than having the opposite effect. Inevitably I'd still drop it ofc because the end game is ass and there's no getting past that, but I like the journey rather than the destination. Unironically though.
