Can't expect losing players to be happy and not complain when there are winners who don't care whether losers are happy or if they complain. Sportsmanship trickles down, good or bad. It's just the chickens coming home to roost.
In the wider world, gamers unite against bad actors even when it's a burden, expensive, or might hurt their chances of winning, because (at least, at the institutional level) they've learned those who don't will get so bogged down by scandals, infighting, retention and recruitment difficulties the real winners will be those who help one another to excel, experiment, and entertain - including those not on their team - not the ones who cover their eyes and ears when there's a load of bullshit going on and label it 'someone else's problem', unrelentingly beat their rivals into submission, or twist the knife at every opportunity. There's plenty of little niches left over where the latter might thrive, but focus on the 'little niches left over' part. It's a very limited kind of 'success'.
