Hermit looking for home

Postby Reka » Tue Nov 12, 2024 12:07 pm

Hey there,

I am a hermit looking for home.

I am new, joined a few days after steam release. I've got a character with all food-related stats averaging 40 (except psyche, yeah); unarmed, marksmanship, exploration and survival around 30, the rest 10.

I've done some cooking, fishing, hunting (critters, foxes, bats, cave rats, badgers, boars, swans, beavers and when I got lucky with horse - deer). I've built a decent-sized base (30x40), palisaded up and running, racks, vats, some fields with bees (currently waiting for first seeds of flax, hemp and wheat from WWW seeds). I've got chicken coops and rabbit hutches, planted some trees and moved some berry bushes, made escape airlock and managed not to mess up the locks. I have done next-to-none mining. I have also pursued hunter credo and I'm at 4/5 2/2. That's just so you have an idea of how new / advanced I am.

I am based in Europe, GMT+1. Based on the size of your settlement and variety of your time zones, it may or may not be a problem (I don't want to play alone, after all)

And why do I want to join?

Frankly, there's just too much to do and I am alone. Not only does everything soak up too much time, there is also little safety. And I also want to experience the village playstyle. I want to slow down, become a bit more casual. I want to have a horse, but I don't want to build cheese arena to get it early, and I don't have the stats to solo tame it.

If I were to join, I'd either make completely new character or, if you were close, walk (doubt).

Let me know if you'd be interested in having me, thanks!

I would be up to joining a village, but I am brand new and alone, so probably not what you are looking for :D

Hey, thanks for the reply.

Unfortunately, that is not what I am looking for, really looking for a group of at least a few people.

Hi Reka.

I hope you find a home. Sadly many are a bit paranoid, understandably so, when it comes to players they do not know. So if you do not get as many invites as you would wish, that is the reason. You have been quite busy! All you have accomplished so far, that is impressive. I understand the need for casual play, but you can still do that on your own. You just need to cover your .. basics? Bases? It is a bit early right now, but when realms comes into play you might experience the hermit life, but still within a realm with players to talk to and trade with. If you are lucky with the realm that is. Read more about it on the wiki: https://ringofbrodgar.com/wiki/Realm

Best of luck to you!

Thanks for the kind words, both of you. I got hooked, played a lot and spent a huge amount of time scouring the wiki and forums.

While I may continue as Hermit as Granny mentioned, I think I already went through that experience and I want to try out group play now. Whether that works better or not is yet to be seen, but at the moment having a common goal with others and working towards it sounds appealing. Also, I think the stakes would get lower for one individual that way, as the group can prop them up in case of unfortunate accident. Same goes for overall progress.

So far I got one actual offer and I am waiting for them to reach back.

Message me if your still looking I'm solo . Hunter gatherer.main. could use extra hands on the homestead . Anyone is welcome just put up a tar kiln and have my base fully walled in with a house and storage plenty of room in the area if you wanted your own adjacent lot

Hey I have a base set up with 4 people 3 now cause one kinda quit. Were located in the north east continent by the volcano if you reside in that area. But would be awesome to have a extra person if possible. Just started mining haven't found ore yet though. The games so much better if you can have a group i thought i was gonna be solo again this world but i joined forces with a neighbor being a hermit is just so limiting and time consuming.
