There's something wrong with that ancestors worship tradition thing. "I pray to my dear ancestor who was a crazy mass murderer to be just like him", that's really weird.

Why do you find this strange? The sons are always wanna be like their fathers, especially when there're no any Hollywood stars to worship them.

Well, first of all, i think that mad murderers usually don't have children, and if they do, they probably don't have time to raise them - you know, too busy going postal.

And second, society, especially small one, can't be based on traditions and rituals that endanger its stability. Warriors could be praised, of course, because they protect the society, but people who kill innocents, especially of their own kin, are despised.

That's right, but the key word is "of their own kin". Why do you think those famous "murderers".. fighters - why do you think they kill people from their own kin? They don't. They kill the foreigners, the WV guys for example - they kill the rivals, but the WV guys don't kill each other so often, afaik. The vikings, for example, were protected not by some government, or king, or sheriff, they were protected by their kinmates only. If you din't have a family you could be killed easily and noone would have tried to protect you - because there was nothing "illegal" in killing of such a guy. There could be some wars between the families - but it was ok, it was only their own business. Why did the son should felt some shame if his father killed an enemy? A big amount of enemies? There's nothing bad in it, even church find the wars a not-so-bad stuff.

Well, were they innocent or not - the son wouldn't be able to know anyway. And even if they were innocent - you know, the children always feel tendency to love their parents and they want be similar to ehm.
Like "My father killed two hundreds of enemies? Cool! He's a tough guy (He always felt proud of it so i feel myself proud of this too)! And i'm going to kill 300!"

That's all very true. I wonder if it's possible to make ancestral worshipping penalties for, say, those who kill their own kin. Like if a child knows that his father is a lazy drunkard, he possibly will be ashamed of such a father. And the opposite, if father was a famous warrior, his son most likely will be a warrior too.
