I play in UTC+10 from approx 6am to 6:30 am (or till 8am if I'm having a late day) and then again for an hour in the afternoon, either 5-6pm or 6-7pm
On weekends I'm on a lot more some days and hardly at all other days.

Can herdsmen swear people in? I have recently deputized Laramere

No, we can not. There is in fact little that a hirdsmen can do. They get two pieces of gear, and can be summoned by you as long as you are within village influence for 500 authority.

Just finished Paving stone in the area before the actual Brodgar.
Time to pave the road from Brodgar to the RoB now, griefers are pretty annoying.

EDIT: Paved that road.

I'd like to join brodgar too. I'm building my house between the outer and second walls, dunno if that's what you guys planned. So please respond about if it's (not) okay. I will not finish my house before then.

Re: THE TEN OATHS OF BRODGAR - (draft)

Postby Yolan » Sat Sep 19, 2009 10:41 am

ATTENTION ALL RESIDENTS OF BRODGAR:

After waiting about a week, it seems that we have received all the input we are likely to get at this stage for the ten oaths. I therefore present to you a new draft, modified in response to some comments.

If you are a resident/citizen of Brodgar, PLEASE VOTE by responding either 'AYE' or "NAY'. If two thirds of Brodgarians are in support, I will consider these oaths enacted. They are to be our bedrock guide for the future development of a civil society, and a great city.

- Lawspeaker Yolan

---=========THE OATHS==========---

(I) - ALL CITIZENS OF BRODGAR ARE EQUAL IN THE EYES OF THE LAW

(II) - NO CITIZEN CAN BE PUNISHED, LEAST THEY ARE FIRST FOUND GUILTY BY A COURT OF PEERS

(III) - ANY APPLICANT OF REPUTABLE CHARACTER MAY BECOME A CITIZEN, PROVIDING THEY FIRST CONSTRUCT OR PURCHASE A HOUSE WITHIN BRODGARS WALLS OR A FARM WITHIN BRODGAR'S IMMEDIATE SURROUNDS OR RECOGNIZED TERRITORY

(IV) - ALL CITIZENS OF BRODGAR HAVE THE RIGHT TO INDEPENDENCE AND AUTONOMY IN THEIR ACTIONS, SAVE WHEN SUCH ACTIONS RUN COUNTER TO THE GOOD OF THE WHOLE, OR THE SAFETY OF ANOTHER CITIZEN OR HEARTHLING

(V) - IT IS THE RIGHT OF ANY CITIZEN TO RUN FOR ANY OFFICE OF STATE AND TO VOTE IN ANY ELECTION

(VI) - OFFICES OF STATE MAY BE OCCUPIED AFTER A NOMINEE RECEIVES A MAJORITY VOTE IN A FREE AND FAIR ELECTION

(VII) - THE HEAD OF THE EXECUTIVE BRANCH (CHIEFTAIN) AND THE HEAD OF THE LEGISLATIVE AND JUDICIAL BRANCH (LAWSPEAKER) ARE TO RESPECT THE OATHS IN ALL THEIR ACTIONS. EITHER MAY BE REMOVED FROM OFFICE IF IT CAN BE DEMONSTRATED THAT THEY HAVE OFFENDED THE OATHS BY A CITIZEN OF REPUTABLE STANDING.

(VIII) - ALL LAWS DRAFTED MAY ONLY BE ENACTED BY MAJORITY VOTE AFTER A MINIMUM PUBLIC CONSULTATION OF TWO WEEKS, AND ONLY IF THEY DO NOT CONTRADICT THE OATHS

(IX) - ELECTIONS MAY BE CALLED EARLIER THAN THEIR SCHEDULED TIME IF ONE THIRD OF THE CITIZENRY PUBLICLY DEMANDS IT

(X) - A TWO THIRDS MAJORITY VOTE MUST FIRST BE SECURED FROM BRODGAR'S CITIZENS BEFORE THESE OATHS MAY BE REPLACED OR ALTERED

In other news, Brodgar now has a 50% stake in a tin mine. So, we can now make copper, and tin, as well as bronze.

Village banners no longer require wrought iron to complete. So, can I get us some cloth woven up whenever anybody has time and flax? 25 cloth per banner.

Anybody who has enough constitution is welcome to help out at our mines. It is necessary to cross a 6 square river to get there though. Aim at 40 constitution for safety. 33 will do it if you are brave. Once crossed over, you can make your hearthfire inside the compound, and port back and forth (for now!)

Once we get a flow of copper coming in, we can get as many chests as we need for everybody, and also, I think, KEYS. That means we can lock down the community workshop area, and put in nicer stuff, like a meatgrinder and a couldron.

On that note: WE NEED TEA. More tea = more mining = more copper and tin. We can also trade these for iron, which means you guys get to have axes and swords and armor etc.

Lets get to work!
