Terrorism is bad, except when it's happening in counties that harbour terrorism.

So when someone breaks in and steals all your stuff, the best thing to do would be nothing?

Ideally a honest, no dare I say HONOURABLE member of the community would be against such acts regardless of their victim, but hey, those mean ol' goons had it coming to them.

There are two possible honourable positions here. One eschews the specific acts; the other eschews the initiation of conflict, particularly by means of those acts.

It is thus not at all inconsistent for someone to believe that anything goes when dealing with someone one knows to be an offender of some kind - while despising those who commit such actions against innocents.

Yes well, I suppose some find their moral codes rather flexible when dealing with someone who they hate. After all they started it, an eye for an eye and all that. It's easy for most to adjust their values in order to fight a villainized enemy. Goons are all griefers, exploiters and faggots, and I sir have NO PROBLEM with people griefing, harassing and exploiting to wipe them off this game because they started it.

Those people may as well be honest, those values didn't mean much anyway and our heinous enemies dragged us down to it. We were waiting for someone to start this shit! Now we can be just as mean without feeling guilty.

I for one support goonicide. With their e-bushedo and terrible forum, they deserve everything they get.

Delamore, didn't you hear? He couldn't take it any more and the pressures of life caved in on him. This was just the last straw in a series of cruel failures. Good night sweet prince, we shall miss you so.

The important thing is perhaps where one draws the line. It's a bit of a slippery slope from "I will execute this character, summoning him with a murder clue I found at the site of the killing of a friend who didn't even have black skills" to "I will massacre anyone who lives anywhere near this guy, who I believe to be the person accused of murder on the forum, since they are doubtless friends of his and support his murderous ways". There's another slippery slope from "I will execute this guy who murdered" to "I will kill this guy who is 'griefing' by building too close to my settlement and chopping down trees."

The possibility of someone drawing lines very broadly - as in your examples - doesn't make the general principle of retaliation (without initiating such conflicts) unethical. also, if this is going to be game of village-vs-village conflict, as some seem to want, then it's unfortunately quite reasonable to retaliate against all members of a village, not just whichever ones committed an offense. (This is one of the many reasons I don't want this to become a game of village-vs-village conflict and politics.)
