We don't as yet, but we really should.

If anybody could take the initiative? I don't know much about IRC...

I the LS of Wurmcity Am trying to pave a road from my camp to the RoB, I would be gracious of any help, and when boats are released and I can set off with my citizens to found a town, the ruins of the encampment could be used to aid this project.

Having some connection problems... so I will pen this while waiting.

To the good people of Brodgar, who have so far put in so much effort, and perhaps intend to live there for some time. Also, to those thinking of joining us.

I think it is necessary to spell out a little bit more of what I am hoping to set in motion over the next week, as it is essential now at the developing stage that we get the layout and organization of this city right.

In most small villages, I think, everybody pretty much knows everybody else, and you know whose stuff is what. And then, because there are not so many people, you share in the fruits of each others labor, and don't worry too much about 'ownership'.

Goal: I would like to see Brodgar become a welcoming place, but also a very mercantalistic, trading hub. And, along with this, a _city_. That is, even early on, I would like to see over a dozen, perhaps two dozen people living there, with much expansion possible over time. I would like to make this a center of real civilization and commerce to counter the dispersal of our player base over a wide area. Sure, you might live far far down the road/river, but at least you will know that if you go to Brodgar, there are plenty of people to talk to and trade with.

With that goal in mind, my general desire for the town layout is as follows:

Please, those who are helping, we need to be very careful with the land within our walls. I envision several districts devoted to different purposes. A) Trade/commerce/warehouses. B) Residential. C) Agricultural. Each district would be partitioned such that areas of activity are privately owned. At the moment we are working together with team spirit, to get the job done, but in time, each person can carry out their business as their please, within their own allotments of land. The management of these (who gets assigned what) will fall to the officials elected by the citizens. If we can have it such that we can pack in a _lot_ of players into a relatively dense city, we can then get some bustling commerce going. At a certain point, we can reach a snowball effect whereby we establish a symbiotic relationship between high quality artisans within the city, and the buyers and sellers that come via ports and roads.

So, until we have sorted out where these districts are, and the size of the allotments, please be a bit patient about getting your own shack set up, etc. We will get this sorted out soon..

Umm... what? Dude, you better work that out pretty quickly, my number one priority is to build a house, fields and oven.

Can I get any assistance with my road? And I need to know where I can connect it to without ruining your plans.

I am interested in this. What I was thinking was maybe starting a farm/orchard just outside this city, to supply it with food and wood, when trees inevitably disappear. I've already started traveling around and collecting seeds. I'm also interested in the prospect of some kind of central banking system, but I'm not sure of the logistics.

The idea is to encourage specialisation. We will get land allotments worked out pretty quickly.
