Ok, here is an update:

After initially tracking the thief to within the walls of Wayneville, I provided scents to Xybb, who told me that one of the scents pointed west of Wayneville, while the other pointed NW of Wayneville. I can now confirm that the thief has, indeed, moved his hearth outside of Wayneville's walls. The character's name is either: "1TheEnigmist1" or "lTheEnigmistl" (I am not sure whether the characters are 1's or l's.)

People of Wayneville, is this indeed one of your village members?

Actually since this is my first direct interaction with Wayneville, I must say that they are handling the situation in a manner that a responsible village would be expected to. Yes, |TheEnigmist| is one of our village members, in fact he is the one who already admitted the theft. But I didn't know that he moved his hearth outside the village and I wasn't even able to track him to his hearth (I lost the track far out).
