We're still discussing disbursement of the metal that comes from the mines. Worth noting is that I'm trying to keep tabs on who is helping us most with setting up the city. Obviously they are going to be put on the front of the payment queue. Brodgar is not a socialist town (despite having a few shared resources) and is most likely going to try to work it in terms of payment (in coin) for labor and materials.
It'll probably be a number of coins (certainly less than a bar) per cloth contributed with the option of converting 100 coins to a bar from the treasury.

If you contribute to the cloth fund, make sure you mention it to either myself, Yolan or Laramere via PM on the forums so we can keep track. I'll try to have a few different banner construction sites around the outside, make sure you build materials into them so they can't be nicked

What do you think about a Brodgar's dedicated forum? It could be difficult to manage all the city activities in one thread, and a forum could be very usefull.

Probably because mines are very small at the moment.

Because the path to the mine is very long and dangerous, unless you want to risk the travel through rivers and mordor, you're better off working.

As in you have 21 Linen cloths, or you added 21 Linen cloths to banners?

Also, we need a few more banners started (you only really need a stick to start them...), and It'd be nice if the west gate had a little "remove the privilege" action.

If you look up a page or two, I actually make that offer. However, you need to have good industry for it to be worth while, as well as the constitution to cross a 6 square river. That crosses a lot of people out.

Re: THE TEN OATHS OF BRODGAR - (draft)

Yolan wrote:ATTENTION ALL RESIDENTS OF BRODGAR:

After waiting about a week, it seems that we have received all the input we are likely to get at this stage for the ten oaths. I therefore present to you a new draft, modified in response to some comments.

If you are a resident/citizen of Brodgar, PLEASE VOTE by responding either 'AYE' or "NAY'. If two thirds of Brodgarians are in support, I will consider these oaths enacted. They are to be our bedrock guide for the future development of a civil society, and a great city.

- Lawspeaker Yolan

---=========THE OATHS==========---

(I) - ALL CITIZENS OF BRODGAR ARE EQUAL IN THE EYES OF THE LAW

(II) - NO CITIZEN CAN BE PUNISHED, LEAST THEY ARE FIRST FOUND GUILTY BY A COURT OF PEERS

(III) - ANY APPLICANT OF REPUTABLE CHARACTER MAY BECOME A CITIZEN, PROVIDING THEY FIRST CONSTRUCT OR PURCHASE A HOUSE WITHIN BRODGARS WALLS OR A FARM WITHIN BRODGAR'S IMMEDIATE SURROUNDS OR RECOGNIZED TERRITORY

(IV) - ALL CITIZENS OF BRODGAR HAVE THE RIGHT TO INDEPENDENCE AND AUTONOMY IN THEIR ACTIONS, SAVE WHEN SUCH ACTIONS RUN COUNTER TO THE GOOD OF THE WHOLE, OR THE SAFETY OF ANOTHER CITIZEN OR HEARTHLING

(V) - IT IS THE RIGHT OF ANY CITIZEN TO RUN FOR ANY OFFICE OF STATE AND TO VOTE IN ANY ELECTION

(VI) - OFFICES OF STATE MAY BE OCCUPIED AFTER A NOMINEE RECEIVES A MAJORITY VOTE IN A FREE AND FAIR ELECTION

(VII) - THE HEAD OF THE EXECUTIVE BRANCH (CHIEFTAIN) AND THE HEAD OF THE LEGISLATIVE AND JUDICIAL BRANCH (LAWSPEAKER) ARE TO RESPECT THE OATHS IN ALL THEIR ACTIONS. EITHER MAY BE REMOVED FROM OFFICE IF IT CAN BE DEMONSTRATED THAT THEY HAVE OFFENDED THE OATHS BY A CITIZEN OF REPUTABLE STANDING.

(VIII) - ALL LAWS DRAFTED MAY ONLY BE ENACTED BY MAJORITY VOTE AFTER A MINIMUM PUBLIC CONSULTATION OF TWO WEEKS, AND ONLY IF THEY DO NOT CONTRADICT THE OATHS

(IX) - ELECTIONS MAY BE CALLED EARLIER THAN THEIR SCHEDULED TIME IF ONE THIRD OF THE CITIZENRY PUBLICLY DEMANDS IT

(X) - A TWO THIRDS MAJORITY VOTE MUST FIRST BE SECURED FROM BRODGAR'S CITIZENS BEFORE THESE OATHS MAY BE REPLACED OR ALTERED

OK, I have had about four or five 'AYES' so far. Can I get a few more responses from you guys? I want the explicit affirmation of as many residents as is possible before I announce this as passed into law.

In addition to this, if you've already voted and see someone in town, mention it to them, and encourage them to get online and have their say.
