That's all well and good, and I am for the adoption of coinage... but it'll be tough for some to acquire coins. We would need a moneychanger who's willing to buy pretty much anything. Plus a secure place to store the money, I suppose.
As noted, yes brodgar is attempting to stimulate the economy by paying in metal.
At this point however the majority of our customers are requesting we hold on to their payment until it's enough to pay in a bar directly.
I'm toying with the idea of refusing to do so, which will put more coins into the world and out of our vaults which is good for business.
As for money changing, Brodgar has a pretty big shopping list, Cloth, Tea, Food, Wood, Wrought, Steel, Bricks. If you have anything of considerable worth and want to trade it for some coins PM me and brodgar may buy it. It's unlikely that the city will pay for trash like snuff, wool, bones or twigs though.
If you've got butter consider trying one of our numerous bakers, I'm sure they'd pay a pretty penny for a convenient supply
EDIT:
I should be specific there, I mean toying with the idea of paying whatever we owe when the transaction happens, as opposed to refusing to pay in bars at all. We will continue to pay 100 coins with a bar of equal or lower quality
