No, thanks. I simply wanted to have a formal authorization to put it (since i wasn't sure if that was allowed by the rules of the city). I'll put that stone later today.

Okay, given that there was only one suggestion, to turn the space into an Inn/market, there will be no vote, and construction on an Inn and marketplace will begin.

I'd like to make a theft report.
My home is inbetween Laremeres and Amodeus'.
I had a cupboard partially full of linen/fibers taken, along with some arrows.
I don't have a fully built wall, considering I was given an abandoned lot.

It's probably worth repeating, as has been mentioned several times in this thread, that Brodgar does not guarantee safety of your valuables and recommends claiming your private residence.

I'm sorry to hear someone nicked your stuff and I'll bust up that gate for you next chance I get.

In the mean time I recommend putting your hearth fire inside your lot and using travel between it and the village to move about.

Make sure you have a straw bed in there as well.

Hello fellow brodgarians!

I find the oaths, the people behind and in Brodgar, and the ambitions decleared with the economy and the census good, in both the sense of good motive and result.

Since the current power or should i say responsibility is centered on the lawspeaker and the cheiftan, with the cheiftan taking on the ambitions of the city and its administration in a way. And the lawspeaker protects the citizens liberal rights.
This is good and fair. I actually find brodgar to be more of an benovalent socialistic/mixed state than a market economy. Since so much is done by the chieftan to ensure the welfare of the citizens beyond simple infrastructure.

Beyond voicing my general understanding of Brodgar as it stands, i have a suggestion for the chieftan.
You have the right to appoint officials and this shouldn't be overlooked. Perhaps it is not currently pupliciced, and yes alot of things are coming along one at a time, but since i lift this matter i will give the reason for its relevant urgency.

One person can only do so much, so I think that to ensure that brodgar has a working state economy, and because the good plan for an open market city does cost alot, an economic official should be elected as soon as possible.

I would advice that the responsibility of this position would be that of an economic organisation, to maximise gain and output.

Key informants would be valuable, for information of resources geographical resources (eg mines), knowledge of quality and mechanics of the game, and knowledge of current tradevalues.

This position would strive especially for good trade with citizens and other villages or producing entities, and be responsible for the presentation and administration of the treasury to the public for current deals and treasury reports.

Such delegation would perhaps leave more time and energy to the economic part of brodgar, which i think will determine the survival of brodgar as a city were citizenship is something to be proud of.

Absolutely, I'm always keen on doing less work.

As soon as a player who is reasonably active and has established a reasonable rapport with myself or someone I trust shows even the slightest bit of interest in taking on a civil role I will see that a role is found and filled.

So are you congratulating them on such a great city? Or offering to takeover chieftain role? Honestly all I got from that was a lot of things that seemed to be leading somewhere that didn't...

V is a citizen

He's keen on someone (possibly himself) taking on some more civic duties.

He probably should have spoken to me about it directly, but I don't see any problem with him posting about it here, this is after all, a thread of the people.

I do disagree with the socialism thing though...
Brodgar gives very little to its people that it doesn't demand something in return for, and we certainly don't attempt to even out the wealth in any way.

Well actually i was tired when i wrote it so I'm sorry if it made little sense..

Anyway I am not interested in taking over the role of chieftain, since i don't see anything I could improve over the current.
What I am saying is that wealth makes haven and hearth tick. Brodgar could use wealth for alot of things, and the more efficient it is at making good deals, like getting mines like the current and letting the people of brodgar use it for a small fee, the cheaper we can make the fee for the miners, and more people will want to come to brodgar.

In essence, a village connects people under a leader, a leader who must make choices and be wise. Especially in a democracy.
What i am discussing is that a person, even active alot in haven and hearth, could use assistance from other people, with information and more practical duties/discussions.

So I am saying the economy is important to ensure the civil rights of the people of brodgar, and I also saying that the chieftain probably could use some help. My conclusion is that someone should be elected responsible for this.

I am writing here as I am hoping to start a discussion. The position is not clear cut, it could be a mix of a treasurer (actual administrator of the treasury) and a planner, or more of a planner/resource, depending on the chieftain's wishes as he/she is still in charge, just getting help.
A planner would suggest ways to get hold of mines and administrate them in an efficient way that would be easy for the citizens to use and help brodgar, or other resources that is necessary. He/she would also get information from other people and villages and try to establish trade and get a good understanding of the current and future market situation of haven and hearth. To forward the development of brodgar.

First of all i must say that I am not saying that brodgar is a kind of socialism, I am saying I personally see benevolent similarities we shouldn't be afraid of or see as bad. Liberal and socialistic thinking is not as far apart as one would think, if you can see other expressions of socialisms than the the dictatorships of former soviet and its contemporaries.
I am just voicing this as I like share my thoughts and like a nuanced(spelling?) discussion.
I find that brodgar have civic buildings and communal farming, and I thought this was a kind of welfare that makes new hearthlings able to do something, good for them, good for brodgar. Socialism doesn't mean unpaid labor or total sharing for me, but this is just my opinion. I have no problem with you disagreeing, and it all boils down to personal definitions anyway. :)

Anyway, yes you have understood me correctly Trav, I think you could use an official(and I thought the economic part to especially important and pragmatic) and I see this as a thread of the people, a FORUM. For Brodgar. And any discussion of apointments or possible duties have a good place here, as I am not just asking to become one.

I haven't thought that I would be the one to step up for this right now, probably there are others who are more qualified, I am just discussing the need for the position. But I would consider it if asked as long as there is consensus with the cheiftain of what it entails.

Furthermore I think the more citizens that take part in thinking of a way to better Brodgar, the better and more stable the community will become, its not fair to let everything rest on one or two men/womens shoulders. And if someone important wants to step down entirely or just drop some responsibilities, if people are active it makes the changes easier.
