Murder

Postby Murazama » Tue Sep 29, 2009 12:23 am

So I thought I would ask how other villages deal with griefing.

If a village is griefed majorly, and they are founded. Is it viable for them, or one of their members to have the murder skill to prevent the player that is griefing them to grief them?

Such as:
Player A is Mayor and has Murder.
Player B is a Griefer.

Player B notices an unfinished Palisade, and decides to some how fuck it up. Player A sees him doing this does he have the right to Murder him, or ask them to leave, and if they are caught doing anything of the sort again allowable to murder them?

Just mainly asking out of curiousity and how the other major villages deal with players that grief them.

There's also the matter of if the 'Murder' person can even kill the griefer.

Asking the griefer to leave would be a good first option, then a warning, if person persists, then its up to the 'murderer' to decide whether he/she wants his/her murder scent left at the scene.

Also, that kind of griefing is usually avoided by having the palisade on claimed land.

it depends. any murder, even a justified one, will leave a murder scent, which is summonable and may lead you to be murdered.

yes. but i wouldn't worry about that as much, most people aren't going to tresspass into your village to get a scent that they don't know the story of. especially if it's walled.

Alright. So it is viable, if you want to risk it, and if someone is deep in your walls griefing you. To murder them if they continuously ignore your warnings?

assuming you are strong enough to defeat them in combat, yes. if they are, or have been, on your claim/village authority stealing/destroying things, they will be leaving summonable scents, and you, or a ranger that you hire, could use the scents to track them and summon them to the hearthfire and kill them without a fight.

the best response to griefers is usually to ignore them. They're crying out for attention. If you have a brick wall and never lose the key murder is a relatively safe retaliation. Few people have brick walls yet though.

I agree, but that doesn't mean you can't. I mean i quite enjoyed killing the griefers on the old map. They are all the same. They know they done bad and either admit it or say nothing at all. They know there's noone that supports them on the forum either. Pretty much fair game.
The ones who see things differently.

You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them, disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them.
And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius.

Recently had a thief scarf down 20 bear bangers. =/ Rather pissy today so I went off the grid and destroyed a level X bear on my own. Granted took some time. But he died. Produced 115ql Bones and Teeth. All because of a thief. I have their scents too, and I will gladly sit their hearth and wait for them when I feel like it.
