Xanadu: A Call to Arms

In the shadow of Mount Abora, where the Alph runs flowing wild and free...

In Xanadu did Kublai Khan
a stately pleasure-dome decree,
where Alph, the sacred river, ran
through caverns measureless to man
down to a sunless sea,
so twice five miles of fertile ground
with walls and towers were girdled round.
and there were gardens bright with sinuous rills,
where blossom'd many an incense-bearing tree.
And here were forests as ancient as the hills,
enfolding sunny spots of greenery.

[...]

Thy sunny dome! Those caves of ice!
and all who heard should see them there!
and all should cry, Beware! Beware!
his flashing eyes! his floating hair!
Weave a circle round him thrice,
and close your eyes with holy dread!
for he on honey-dew hath fed,
and drunk the milk of Paradise.

-- Coleridge, Samuel Taylor, Kublai Khan

... there, mighty Xanadu shall stand.

I, Jesse James -- son of Oathsworn, son of Farbror -- whisper on the seven winds, across all the eight cardinal angles of the Hearth, that I look for men. Cowards, weaklings, and Minions of the Black Lodge, need not apply.

You can:
- Swim across rivers.
- Reliably kill any wildlife, without exploits, including X Bears.

The iron trumpets of Xanadu beckon her warriors home. I will be taking your PMs to this account, and to this account only.

Well met.

What the crap is this?

You're calling men to arms for...what?

All I got was some poetic pile of nonsense and nothing really informative. Who are you waging war against, and why should I pledge my allegiance and my bow to your cause? What's in it for me?

Why would you require your soldiers to be strong? If this is what I think it is, you're hopelessly outnumbered and outgunned, and don't stand a chance in a fair head-on fight. You should look into asymmetric warfare. I suggest declaring a jihad. Basically, waves of suicide alts with full tradition and vandalism, whose goal is to destroy trees and crops of the enemy. Infiltrators to destroy cauldrons and grinders on enemy territory and keep track of enemy's movement. Fake villages to remove enemy claims. Serial killers to prey on enemy's fresh recruits. Your goal shouldn't be to destroy the body of the enemy, as it's an unrealistic goal. Your goal should be to destroy the spirit of the enemy and deplete his manpower by causing his men to ragequit.

How exactly do you kill a bear "legit" if he says "bye d00d" once hes in rage?

Ever wonder if it's all for you
The world I love The trains I hop To be part of The wave can't stop
Come and tell me when it's time to

No one need doubt that, if Xanadu goes to war, she will do so ruthlessly, efficiently and without mercy. Her long term goal is to establish an open faction with free immigration, providing safety and security for any Hearthling who does not wish to lead the life of a thrall. Right now, though, I'm looking for a founding five, and I need people that I don't have to babysit.

To avoid bear flight, let them hit you a time or two. Their pathfinding algorithm also often fails after a relatively short distance, so follow them when they run.

Three slots are still open. If they are not filled by the end of the week, I will abandon the project.

What I can offer? Rock'n'roll, baby.
