i have played for a while but never had a mine ..
i wanna join a village i can help whit work linen etc..

read the Brodgar! thread, hang out in the irc channel, look for NoFace or Yolan, pester jorb and Loftar about improving village mechanics

One thing that pisses me off is that theres metals underneath us all the time, Low quality basic metals at any given time, and yet we need to prospect for a giant mine just to get any.

Quality is purely production & processing and not intrinsic to any given mine.

It would make sense if some mines had better ore than others, though.

Well, ore quality doesn't have to influence metal quality. It could just influence smelting success rates, which wouldn't put newb miners at a disadvantage.

i would like to point out that in real world mines the main difference between different ores is their purity, which is basically exactly what potjeh is talking about. And people only mine in certain places for certain ores because it is not worth the effort of refining all the extra stuff out of particularly poorly saturated areas... of course, some ores are hard enough to find in good concentration that people remove them from the leavings of other ore mines!
loftar: New hair styles? Really? Seeing how Jorb never gets off his lazy ass to draw some, I almost want to add them to the game proper.
