Leather missing

Postby Agarrett » Tue Nov 03, 2009 3:57 pm

Ok, I bought 3 leather pelts and I started to dry them. I come back and one rack is missing with my pelt. I take the two pelts mad because I couldn't make all my clothes anymore. I put the pelts in the tubs and come back again later. One pelt is done, but the other is empty. I know that objects can decay, but a whole drying rack in less then 14 hours? I think that is either a bit extreme or someone took my pelts and vandalized my land. But that doesn't make sense because only 1 pelt was missing each time.

Drying racks are made out of cardboard, so it wouldn't be unusual for one to completely disappear within 14 hours. Leather disappearing from a tub is a sure sign of theft, though.

Get yourself Yeomanry ASAP and claim your land. People can't help you with thieves if you don't have a claim up, so thieves leave scents that can be used to track them.

Oh, and raw hides are of very low value, don't pay much for them. Two or three fish is the most I'd pay.

I payed 10 nuggets for 3. Wow, I thought my own town member would be more honest and tell me if it was a bad deal. I do have yeomanry but I had allow my kin into the claim. I could get ranging but my exploration stinks so I could never find them.

10 nuggets for 3 raw hides? Oh man, that's a huge rip-off even if they were q200.

Anyway, tracking is broken, so you can find anyone's scent with just 1 exploration. Just reload the area enough times and you'll find it. Enter and leave a cabin to reload. If it was stolen by kin, however, you won't find any scents. Authorized access doesn't leave them.

Then it wont work sadly. Besides, I don't see what everyone means about metal being so valuable, even if you have a mine. I made 5 tin bars on my first smelting run. I forgot to disallow kin to come on to my land.

Wait, I just remembered that I turned kin allowance off the second time, so I can find there scent! Now all I have to do is farm a few more thousand LP which should take about a half hour. I'll do it after school.
When does a scent disappear?

OK this is really weird, the leather just came back so I guess no one stole it at all. But the rack is really suspicious because the other ones haven't gone yet and they have been here for about 2 or 3 days.

Not many people have access to a mine, so supply/demand laws drive the prices up. That, and metalworkers are a bunch of lazy bastards who complain about their terrible work conditions and claim that farming is an easy and completely non-repetitive job.

*edit* Decay is completely random, so it's possible that one rack disappears and others stay for days.

Metal working is really interesting to me, and if anyone wants to trade with me I would be happy to give them a few bars of tin for a few things...

What things are you interested in? I could use some chest metal. I can provide fish, pastries, emmentaler and camembert.

The problem is that I'm really far away from the RoB, so I would have to get my agility up a bit more before I can trade anything. What I really need is 7 bars of bronze iron or steel to make a smithy's hammer and an anvil. I would be willing to trade on a 1.5:1 ratio so 11 bars of tin for 7 bars of bronze iron or steel. I would also give 4 nuggets of tin for 4 leather. Consider my offer and I will respond in a few hours.

Well, I have to go now, but I'll see if I can make some leather later on. Also, I can bake you a bunch of RoBs, which are pretty much the best way to raise agility because they give a lot of FEP and also give some psy, so you'll get a couple of points of psy while you're raising your agility. I can't do any metal because I'm full nature.

We don't have to meet at RoB. If you can reach any town via crossroads, tell me and I'll see if I can make it there. If you're connected to Cakeport or Innsmouth we can meet easily.
