Tell me again what a village needs an architect for?
And why you think a village would decide to hire a known goon-provoker?
Even from a totally neutral point of view, few people would risk the goon's ire just to have someone come over and do... whatever it is you expect to be paid to do.
That said, if one worked for a new town that needed a few buildings placed that would otherwise be impossible to build (for instance, have someone come and place the first branch in the loom, or the first stone in the Mansion, or the first brick in the various forges), and did this for very little outright cost, such as for instance, a bar or two of metal later on, then I might see this being useful.
If I wasn't working on my own settlement I might be interested in doing that myself, but I suspect that most settlements already have someone skilled there.
Surprise.
