Why you shouldn't trade anymore or very selective with whom

Postby Chakravanti » Sun Nov 29, 2009 8:40 pm

This is for the newbies that haven't put it together yet.

Before only lift-able objects traded could be tracked. Indeed, now ANY item you trade can reveal the location of your home.

Be very paranoid with whom you trade because even several layers of brick walls are absolutely worthless.

1 - trade with people you trust.
2 - brick walls aren't useless, they simply aren't a cure-all
3 - newbies are unlikely to have brick walls regardless

4 - People understand this new system and will most likely be happy with the newbie returning the good and telling who sold it to them.

It's not like everyone can tear through a brickwall like a hot knife thru butter.

1 - Yes. Although Acquiring public trust is gone.
2 - Yes they are. Anyone who can afford them is wealthy enough to be defending against people who CAN tear through brickwalls 'like a hot knife through butter'

Anonymity is the ONLY measure of security. Trust isn't easy to come by if you're a newbie.

Why are you so paranoid anyways? there's enough explorers around to find pretty much everyone's claim, so your secret place isn't really all that secret of a place.

I question that assertion, however I don't think there's any quick and straight forward way to prove/disprove it, so there's little to gain by discussing it further.

I question this assertion. I live next to RoB remember, my whole town is going to be FUCKED by that guy who wants me to pay pal him remember. I doubt he can tear through brick walls like a hot knife through butter. He might be able to get through palisades though.

I take your point about them not being effective for top level character plays but I maintain that you are over exaggerating your point. They are not useless.

If you were to change your statement to "they don't give enough protection to justify their cost" then I probably wouldn't continue to argue. Saying they have no use what so ever, however, is definitely false.

It's actually a pretty good one, and anonymity doesn't necessarily mean having a kick ass fortress in the middle of no-where either, it just means people not knowing you're there to be hassled. (just live somewhere boring)

On a small scale I've found trust is fairly freely given. Also I've noticed it accumulate at a fairly reasonable rate. I think you're linking this to the anonymity thing though.

Ya, brick walls cost 200 more slices of my brodgar blue, which would be 2 instead of only 1 day training the alt, and some more tea, so they're not completely useless, only almost

You're churning out 100 slices of cheese per day and calling it a trivial effort/resource?

Wow, I feel small and insignificant.

EDIT:

Just to be clear, your post has no relevance to my point on brick walls defending effectively against a large number of players who DON'T churn out crazy amounts of strength food to throw away on demolition alts at the drop of a hat.

You my friend, are what I would call a "High Level Player"

200 slices of brodgar blue is only about 18 cheese racks @ ea location. Per day x2.

80 cheese racks. He's right. Small time cheese production. And cheese production has nothing to do with player level.
