Re: Pay 2 Play
I'm no H&H expert. In fact I am barely hardly just getting started.
But I know a few things right off the bat.
The more important being that you need players to make the game appealing enough for people to pay for it.
Locking people out that play for 48 hours empties your already fairly empty servers even further, reducing the value of the game for the few people that are going to play, and driving them off.
Soon you'll have one village with about 4 - 6 p2p players and they are just sitting there getting bored until they stop playing, because they never find any other players.
There are far FAR better ways to do a payment model in this sort of game.
Considering the niche appeal at the moment, even something like a Patreon would probably make more money than subscriptions would, without having the side effect of killing off the player base.
I'm all for developers getting paid for their work, but this is clearly a poorly thought out business model to slap onto a game that already isn't overly popular.
Best bet is trial + buy to play. Subscriptions are sort of a thing of the past these days.
WoW holds a monopoly on them (even they have something in place for dedicated players to avoid the monthly fee as well), and everyone else that attempts them seems to inevitably fail (WIldstar/ESO/TESO/Warhammer/DaOC/Dark Fall/etc./etc.)
PS: The cost itself isn't the issue generally. Even if it was like $2, it's still putting up a hurdle for new players. It's another system they need to give payment information for, which can lead to issues and frustration. I would happily pay for the game if it had a larger player base and I could just stick my debit card in my CD drive to throw $10 at it, but that's not the case. I'd have to transfer said $10 to my paypal, which takes a couple weeks and has additional fees, at which point I might not even want to play the game anymore since I've been locked out of it for a week.

Re: Pay 2 Play
Well, if they are serious with this crazy idea, there are few outcomes
- The angry mob wins, and everything turns like it used to be with the old Haven & Hearth but 2.0, plus the developers will get pissed off and probably just won't update the game for a long time. Or forever.
- The angry mob gets a major victory, and developers lower the cost a lot, or allow players to play forever just paying 10$ once, or increasing the game time of the free accounts....
- The developers win and just a bunch of people plays. The game is well funded, they have a little more money in their pockets, but the game is mostly empty.
- Or the later plus those few players eventually get tired of being alone and game sinks forever.
Or a crazy idea. Haven 1.0 and 2.0 are playable, and you have to pay only to play 2.0. Again, it probably will end with everybody playing 1.0 and a diminishing population in 2.0.
(Anyway, I don't think many people will pay 15$ for a bunch of hours which is worse than full access of EVE Online and WoW. I mean, be honest and compare your game with those. Or just EVE Online, which is the most similar.

Some things that should change for p2p to work
Let me be clear and say that I fully understand the need for a system like this, and anyone who doesn't is unreasonable and wants things for free that are not free to run.
Now when that's out of the way, here are my honest opinions and feedback on the systems as they look now.
I think the system would be ok, that is IF these things are fixed.
Note that this is just my opinion and it is not perfect/flawless.
1: The playtime is waaaay to low
For this to be an ok system, 12 hours a month / 24 hours a month with a verified account is way to little, atleast triple that and I could accept it.
2: Make upgrades
If we will have to pay for haven like this, I expect the servers to become more stable and of higher capacity, and with more frequent updates and bug fixes for the game.
3: Servers for old worlds
When you pay for playtime like this, it's unfair to have it all whiped out when a new world starts. One should be able to continue playing in the old world even when a new one gets released.
4: Prices are a bit steep
IMO the prices as of now are quite steep. I think cutting them in half would be more reasonable.
Let me know if you agree with this, and if you have your own suggestions/opinions. I want to hear what everybody thinks!
Haven is what we all love, that is why we're here, let's not give up just because of something like this.

I'll quote this again:
mamotromico wrote:That is incorrect, the 15 dollar time is the same as the 10 sub. The difference is that the 15 dollars one give you a token that can be traded in-game.
See how PLEX works in EVE Online. It is the same thing.

My opinion on the game, p2p and other stuff
I'm sorry, but this is sad. I was staring at the screen for 8 hours waiting for you to release game that i'll spend insane amount of hours on and you gave me... unfinished, worse, lagging, crashing every 5 minutes game. Excuse me, is this a joke? You can't play with your friends, you can't find them, you dont have anything on the start and this experience thing is just weird. Can you just please give me old HnH but with a new world? that's all I want. Jorb, Loftar, you're losing people. You've already lost hundreds due to this payment thing. And it's not because it's too expensive - This is just a game that can't be pay 2 play to be succesful. I hope you'll think about it and just please, let me play as long as I want WITH MY FRIENDS. and give me some clothes, god damn it
