New weapons and new way of crafting?

Postby Shafin25 » Fri Jul 23, 2010 7:15 am

I have a very new suggestion.
I've seen some life survival liek games and this one seems to be missing something in the middle.
For example, we have low level fists, and high level swords.
What about in the middle?
Like a bone dagger of some sort.
You use a boar tusk or maybe a carved bone, with some bough, and a woodened handle, you can make a bone dagger for fighting or defense?
There could also be a new skill.
Also, I suggest that we can have maybe a crafting items like chisel and such to make better items.
Like you can use the chisel to craft some items that a stone axe or maybe your hands won't be able to craft.
This coudl open alot of new ways like crafting tables, new decorations, sculptures etc.etc..etc
Why make a new character when you wish to join a friend? Just walk on and never give up! When you do, you'll have realised you arrived.

Bone makes good swords, there should be bone swords, there should be scalable weapons/tools as well (wooden tools that degrade/decay faster or have some limit to them).
Daggers would be nice as well as more weapons overall...

I believe new weapons have to wait for the combat update/rehaul if there ever is any because they don't want to put in new weapons to then have to phase them over to the next system if it happens.

I'd like to see daggers as well.
Not as much as an 'in between' weapon, but rather as a class of it's own.
Perhaps, using AGI or DEX, and Stealth as associated stats / skill.
Dagger hits should differ from sword / axe hits, in that they do less damage, but they shoud cost less IP (just 1?), have a faster cooldown, and drain some of the opponents attack bar.

Perhaps also, they could ignore armor, and instead use the opponent's sqrt(UnArmed skill * AGI) as his soak value.

EDIT: Heavy armor could even be used as a penalty against daggers; the opponent's soak value could be his (sqrt(UA*AGI) * (dagger wielder's armor soak value +1)/(defender's armor soak value +1))

In this scenario, wearing lighter armor would be a benefit for the dagger wielder (as long as he can keep his defense up)

EDIT 2:
Have different types of daggers do different things.. Examples:

Bone dagger: damage: low, cooldown: fast, on-hit: drain 25% attack bar
Glass dagger: damage: low, cooldown: normal, on-hit: weight x2 for breaking opponent's defense bar
Iron dagger: damage: normal, cooldown: normal, on-hit: drain 25% attack bar
Bronze dagger: damage: normal, cooldown: fast, on-hit: gain 1 advantage.
Steel dagger: damage: high, cooldown: normal, on-hit: drain 25% attack bar
Silver dagger: damage: low, cooldown: slow, on-hit: drain 2 IP

I'd like to clamor for more low-tech weaponry as well, despite barely even understanding the combat system (yeah, I've read the combat topic). There's something of a yawning chasm with the available weapons; once you've got a stone axe, that's as good as you're going to get until you have access to metal. The tech level may be Bronze Age-y, but that's no reason to write off the less settled peoples who don't have immediate access to metals.

We already start out with the ability to make primitive stone tools, lets use that stone axe to hew ourselves a crude wooden spear (maybe harden the point with fire if you wanna be all fancy-pants realistic), because what kind of lunatic hunts a boar with an axe or a sword? I'd say make 'em two-handed weapons, since throwing spears could wind up rather cumbersome, at least via my limited understanding of the combat and game mechanics.

can glass weapons actually be used as weapons or are they just decorative?

an idea for a glass dagger would be to have a chance for the dagger to break inside the enemy (~75%) and when that happens you loose the dagger, and the person needs to find a doctor (a new skill perhaps) as it creates a massive HHP drain. Or the glass dagger could be hollow and filled with poison that would perhaps take a certain amount of time, and then have the victim drop dead, with no warning. Perhaps this poison would be hard to brew. Even another possibility is to make a weak poison from nettles that would do massive shp damage.

I started playing rpgs with this one small sporadic gameplay game (skyrates.net) and my original name was an accidental misspelling of murphy, and my plane was called the "the law" but someone convinced me to change my name to Murphy Lawson, and I sort of like it, even though Murphy isn't a normal first name.

ah ok.
@glass weapons subject: low damage, high chance of breaking, when crafted can be filled with a poison
@poisons subject: arrows can be dipped in poison, glass can be filled with them, (no poison food, too much grief potential), a sleeping poison, a shp poison, and a hhp poison are craftable. i don't know enough about poisons or in-game herbs for the ingredients
@medicines subject: so much potential!!!
