Pay coins for desired goods in barter stands, sell your wares for coins in coin stands. This way your customers can trade any combination of their goods for any combination of your goods. It worked pretty good for me in Buyan, even if there were some problems with inflation (people were putting more coins into the market than I was minting, and the price of metal was falling steadily). This should no longer be a problem, though, we have good metal sinks now so the price of metal should be reasonably stable.

Yeah, I'm not gonna deny that they have some serious interface issues, but they still provide the most liquidity. Now, if Loftar implemented some kind of a coin pool for stands and let us just set prices for different slots rather than spend hours splitting stacks, they'd be nigh perfect.

And I'm totally gonna use bronze coins again, and I'm sure Sabinati will too. If the rest of your guys want to remain backwards, that's their right.

As for favours, it's not that they're bad, they're just not good enough. IMO ability to use the same currency in shops held by multiple merchants is needed for serious volume of trade, as the customer will be more likely to find goods he wants and therefore will sell more of his own goods. Of course, ability to restrict this inter-shop money flow to a select group of friends (thereby effectively forming a trading corporation) would be really nice. So yeah, I think favours would be kinda redundant if coins were given some much needed polish.

also, the game doesnt need two entirely different kinds of stands. there is no sense in that

So like, several players using a shared alt to sell goods so their stands all use the same Favors?

another possibility would be the ability to form kin groups (whatever you would call them) but that would take a lot more development than this

I think all the problems with coins are just interface issues. Primarily stack splitting. Oh god, that damn splitting.

As for shared alts, well, using the same currency as someone else is nowhere near the same level of trust as sharing access to your stands.

haha yea i wish :x

when the subject of coins comes up in officer chat there is too much whining about bronze steeds

im not sure how a purely metalbased economy would be preferable to credit anyways! guess markets without those metals are shit out of luck huh?

Making virtual credits liquid enough would be a nightmare, just look how convoluted it turned out IRL. And if they're not liquid enough, everyone will just use plain old barter.

No, it's a whole new system that requires significant developer effort, but can be emulated with existing mechanics with minimal addition of effort.
