Isn't DIS actually being a kingdom now? Maybe kingdom claims are... no good (though they still allow thieving, so why not...), but still, aren't we playing a medieval game?

If anything was a kingdom it was Sodom, but even that...

The game has potential for much more than we have seen so far. Dis or Sodom have what 50, 60, 70 players? That isn't even a small town. There could be towns with hundreds of players if we had the proper mechanics to govern those. For that we need mechanics though since nobody is able to spend thei rentire lifetime in being a HnH king or govenor.

Tax systems, kingdom claims, guard bonus maybe...stuff like that.

That idea was inspired by Sodom, by the way. Also, i'd like to include the coinstamps idea to that. I found coin stamps (the thing that is written on the coin as a label when it's in your inventory) really helping in establishing of some kind of kingdom. Well, also i think that silk carpets, golden thrones and such things could really make the feeling of something epic and powerful.

While the game needs more of the features you mention I just wanted to chime in on one (probably unrelated point - sorry).
That is, the town sizes. If the numbers you quoted are actual active players (excluding alts), then that strikes me as a big settlement considering the playerbase and world size. I mean, how many people actively play? If it is 5000 (?) then that one settlement has over 1% of the entire world population. That pretty big is it not (considering the 'period' it is set in, and language barriers, and the lack of real tools to manage said things)?

It might be 1500 people actively playing right now, maybe 2000. I think someone said there's over 5000 registered players, though.
Check out my RoB wiki user page for some useful links and other HnH related tidbits (currently under construction).

Actually, there's 70k registered players. However, we can't say how much of them are active. And i'm not talking about towns, i'm talking about kingdoms. Kingdoms are kinda countries, so it's okay if they have 100 players in it.
