why do my axe melee attack miss way more then my punches when my unarmed skill is lower?

Your HP(Hit points) have 3 levels: Soft, Hard, and Maximum. Shown: 45/75/80
45 is your Soft HP, This regenerates when at "Hungry" or higher. When your SHP runs out, you'll be knocked out.
75 is your Hard HP, this only regenerates through use of gauze and leeches. You're character is permanently dead once this reaches 0.
80 is your Maximum HP, the amount depends on your Constitution (+2), Strength(+1), and you Life/Death personality bonus/penalty.

Battle intensity increases how quickly you and your opponent can attack. Like real life, the longer the battle holds out, the less time you have to think of your next action, and more quickly you run out of stamina. Battle intensity increases naturally in battle and can be changed through the use of special actions. Battle intensity is reduced by 1 whenever someone scores a hit.

Initiative is used to perform special actions such as sidestep, push the advantage, storm of swords etc... You'll gain initiative naturally in battle or through the use of other special actions.

Combat advantage increases the accuracy and dodging of whomever has the advantage. Advantage tips the scale towards whomever scores a hit and can also be altered by special actions. There are 11 parts to the scale, 0 being the center and 5 points to each side.

Stone axes are naturally unwieldly because of their weight and form (Not being made for combat), it's easier to hit someone with your bare hands, but it also does much less damage.
You see a masterful engraving by Blaze. On it is Blaze, bears, boars, and foxes. Blaze is striking down the bears. The boars are screaming. The foxes are in a fetal position. The image relates to the return of Blaze in the late winter of 2009.

So, I gained 2 points of con, and now my HP show as 30/30/34. Do I need bandages to grow into my new maximum? Is this reasonable?

I was under the impression that you only needed the bandages if you were damaged when the max increased

Nope, you need to use gauze/leeches when your max increases. Considering that I am at 93/93/93, this has been rather annoying for me.

Ok I'm having some trouble with melee combat, I can already kill everything using bows, but with my battle axe and lvl 50 melee I cant even hit a level 4 deer with combat advantage in my favor... The same goes with slightly higher level boars.

yup, I believe the issue is because melee hits are an opposed test wheras archery hits are unopposed, or perhaps only apposed using a stat and not a combination of stat and skill

Will my accuracy increase if I keep raising my Melee combat, or do I need a fair amount of a stat in addition to Melee?

Also is there anything that helps increase your dodge rate?

I don't think anyone has yet posted a precise / reliable breakdown of how combat works yet. I think common belief is that STR goes towards determining damage and Agility goes towards determining hits. I believe different attacks use different stats though.

From what I've read punching is actually vastly more effective at killing animals than melee skills due to the much faster strike rate (more combat advantage, more initiative) combined with the fact that animals don't have armor.

lol, can't hit them with my level 40 unarmed either =/

I guess I'll try upping my Melee even more, my agility is at 34, and slowly going up along with all my other stats.
