Where is the opposition's thread; or does that just grow organically?

Yolan! Didn't you know not to play with fire?

It's a fantastic idea, but i'm curious about the way to choose people for important "roles"

btw, Farmers will get bored if they have no alt :C

Outside of the keep dwelling guardians there are no roles, only Brodgar style life where you do what you want to do. Small scale farming, mining and trading. It might not keep most people occupied, but most people don't need to live there. For people who want more space, then setting up one alt MT and another base nearby could be good. You bring your stuff into the city with your MT alt and trade it with other residents. So it can become a nice trade hub also.

Anyhow, inside the keep, who does what? I guess that is up for the guardians to decide amongst themselves. I'm certainly not going to be choosing for them.

The opposition? Hehe. Look, just to reiterate. The purpose of Minus Tirith is -NOT- to become a world power, dominating other people and forcing tribute etc. It exists as an experiment in high density living of a new model. If it works, I would like to see many cities doing a similar thing. Hopefully they could be linked by actual highways, and then we have something more like a world of meaningful destinations rather than just wilderness interspersed with private land. Right now you can find 10 people on at any time around Brodgar, sometimes more. You can log on, see a stranger, and have a chat without shitting your pants. MT would be even better, because the higher your character is the further up the rings you can be, and have less to worry about from homicidal randoms. Also, the guardians can help hunt down trouble makers and fend of nasty people.

Anyhow, I just want to stress this again that if you are applying for being a guardian it is because thats what you want to do, guard people who want to play in a large city that exists for the purpose of promoting peace and development. Leave factional politics at home.

That said.... does somebody want to make Barad-dur? (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barad-d%C3%BBr)

I.E. A city for player killers that is also based on a new and interesting design? I think it would be cool if you could also come up with something with tiers of independent village claims, even if they are not designed in a ring format like MT. That way you can take in large numbers of nubs to train for combat, and slowly allow them to advance up the ranks as they prove themselves.

I've given some reasons for that already earlier in the thread. Not that I am against it per se, but I don't think the timing is right.

Hello, my name is Vaku, and I'd like to introduce myself as someone who would be happy to take into consideration and assist in the best way I can, accommodating all the concerns for this project.

My Background: Who the heck is this guy, and why should we trust him with handling our baby?

You may have spotted me back in 2011, when I announced interest in The Peace SG Capital when that was in its infancy. I had began making in-depth city plans for large scale living there. This culminated in Eir, now desolate and still observable at this location, in the Center of the Super Grid, still viewable for you intrepid explorers, and for the lazier bunch with the HS: Capital

The Town itself ran into several bumps along the way. Roads were too narrow, plots dictated many modes of creation, the village claims items were not pre-planned and so statues in once optimal locations would cut into personal property. The market, a centerpiece for the city, was underdeveloped and under-protected. Once the rebellion occurred, and the Peace SG Capital project dropped, I decided to add my own preference for minimal walls where plots were disallowed personal wall, as I was trying to encourage interaction to the greatest degree. This proved to be disastrous as it inflamed feelings of distrust and aggression. Opportunity is after all what makes a thief.

I learned a lot from the mistakes in Eir, and after dropping that project, started anew in a location I called Interim, that would incorporate minimalism, however it neglected comfort as the areas were very cramped, and was only the size of 101x101 Village Idol claim. That project was dropped after seeing the direction of the village.

I've come now to my current village, where I currently survey and village members and gain a better understanding of how a traditional HnH village operates. Nothing is special in this village aside from the people I share it with. It is what you would call unoriginal in design, countlessly observed throughout multiple worlds in HnH.

So having tasted all these various aspects of cities, and most importantly seen the great attention and love for Brodgar and this new project, I want to bring my experience to the table and assist in alleviating any stress that might occur from discomfort for those who expect one thing and experiencing quite a disappointing other.

How I Work and What You Can Expect from Me

With Eir (Below) I had just given myself the idea of what might a large town be. I asked myself what a capital needs, what a city needs and not very often did I ask myself, how do certain things in Haven and Hearth actually function in relation to each other, such as P-claims and V-claims. I just went straight for aesthetics and very little into functionality.

Those of you who are veterans may be able to spot some obvious errors in its design that will cause a lot of communal strife.

This second piece is my latest pet project that I have worked on, and it has yet to enter into the world as I had personally been saving it for W-7. This incorporates a good understanding of the game mechanics and is minimalistic and aesthetic in its approach.

What this does not have is your approval, your input! Your BEAUTIFUL DREAMS and wishes. I am completely willing to scrap this design, and start anew incorporating everything you guys want to see in a village that meets the scale of what you're trying to create. This will be a Village Idol, that will require more than 10 Beautiful Dreams, more than 20. I hope to incorporate as many of your wishes as I can muster before the next world, or before we're next tempted to build a city of monolithic proportion.

I again want to reiterate, that I want to assist you all in visualizing the major aspects of the village in a way the meets both aesthetics and functionality. We want to prevent any sort of hiccups that could have been easily avoided with a bit of foresight. With well done plans we can keep morale high and on focus with essentials. I don't want to micromanage as in Eir, I want to simply have things like public transit, gathering areas and physical government and commerce locations in place and organized so we might hit the ground running.

Thank you for all your patience in reading this.

TLDR; Tell me what you want in the town. I will make it look pretty and keep it organized, so long as the suggestions and desires are in the spirit of how Yolan presented the project.
