If you really don't want cavins to fall in the void, avoid placing supports closer then 9 tiles from the void tiles. That means 8 free tiles between you and support and the void. Best would be to place it at max distance and still be able to mine out the walls. Other tricks are to place boats in the void area before bashing the supports so the boats will take the hit and not leave any cavins.

If your desperate about removing the cavins in the void areas you can also build a village idol right up against the void, take it over when its finished drying, remove your HF and repeat porting to it until you land near the cavin and bash it.


Is it really necessary to destroy minesupports? Is there a special reason for doing that?

No benefit to destroy mine supports other than giving your building area a clean open area that isnt cluttered with supports :D
