Perhaps, but I've always hated websites that nag me for my attention, so I'm not overly fond of the idea. It would be one thing if there'd been an opt-in on registration, I guess.

Or in the forum profile. Seems like there's a checkbox in there somewhere that can be turned on about receiving mass emails from site administrators, and a way to send mass emails to those that have selected to receive such things.

Would be nice, but don't let such nice things distract you from the real work. Oh how many hours have I wasted chasing the next shiny thing glinting in the corner of my eye....

The forum doesn't actually know anyone's e-mail address, however.

Then again, adding such an option on the account page would be the easiest thing in the world. If it weren't for the fact that the thought of mass e-mails disgusts me so horrible, I'd add it right now. I'll keep it in mind and see if I can find it in myself. ^^

Please don't! enough places on the net flood you with announcements, confirmations, offers... Its not to much to ask a person who is actually interested in Haven to check the announcements time to time.

So another site I have to sit there and configure just to not be bothered. No thank you!

It is a slippery slope to more and more addition you have to opt out of. A game should be a game not a mass media platform to constantly promote its self. If I enjoy it Ill be there. They don't need to bombard me with things to play.

Not that I'm saying that I like it, but please keep on-topic, at least. :)

I do have to agree with you and LadyV on all the mass emails, but I don't mind notices getting pushed to me if I want to stay up on news and it's something I willingly opted into, and not just forgot to uncheck the "receive notices" box when I register on a site.

To note, I may be confusing vBulletin and SMF and phpBB. So many things are similar in small ways, and other things are missing in one or another.
